A baby crying?

Fine by me.

My baby crying?

Absolutely not.

I hated every second of being in that room and watching her. Renleigh had to hold her down in her lap whilst I stood opposite to them, my hands covered my face as I peeked out here and there to check on what went on.

But that didn't keep out the noise. The crying. I knew I would dream about it tonight. It was honestly the worst. She was such a loud crier and I was sure she screamed some cracks into the ceiling and walls.

"My baby," cooed as I took her from Renleigh and tried to calm her down. I walked out of the room as I bounced her in my arms, my hand gently rubbing her back. "I love you, yeah? I love you so much," I kissed her shoulder multiple times as I walked around with her so she could finally get some peace and quiet. She was so scared but this had to be done now than later.

The door opened soon after and revealed Renleigh. She put some sort of paper in her purse then placed it on her shoulder.

"Alright, that's done," Renleigh sighed as she pulled her coat a little tighter.

"Never doing that again," I said, referring to getting Leila's ears getting pierced.

"Oh, get over it," she chuckled. "The lady told me she was better than other kids. She only cried."

"Still. I hated it," I responded. "Oh, shit, wait," I stopped in my tracks as I caught someone with a camera. I had no idea how they found us but they did. And it caught me off guard. "Don't go out yet."

"If we'll hide from every camera, we'll never live our lives normally," she sighed as she looked through her bag. I could see where she was coming from but I wanted to protect her and Leila. I knew she didn't need it because she was able to protect herself but still, it was my job to make sure they were okay.

"Just this one," I reassured her. "Don't want them to get a photo of her crying—or her face, at all."

Introducing Leila to the media was not something we planned for a long time. It sounded easy in theory but much harder in practice. Especially when there was quite so much buzz around us. It didn't make sense—us being a couple wasn't as talked about as it was now. The rumours in articles, the guessing games that ran around us about our life was just insane. Keeping it out was becoming harder than before.

As we waited, Renleigh got a call. She said it was work so she accepted it and walked away a little. That was something she did so I didn't find it weird. I only worried that the paparazzi would notice and go after her. I think that was my biggest fear of all. I knew how ruthless these people could get just to snap one photo to sell.

Thankfully, Leila stopped crying. I wiped her cheeks and eyes then kissed her forehead. I couldn't believe she was already one month old. She was just born and she was already growing so fast. It was insane to think that by this time next month she'd be, well, two months old.
