28—Harry Styles
It felt like the weekend in Paris flew by because the next thing I knew, I was back in England, on my way to bin the smelly nappy that my lovely daughter produced. Just for me. She enjoyed leaving me the stinky ones, as if she wanted to punish me for loving her. I couldn't be mad though I would have changed her nappies any time if it meant she'd stay this tiny.
She was now almost three months old which I couldn't even comprehend. She grew bigger and bigger each day and it didn't even get to me until I looked at my homescreen. It was a picture of her and I on the day she was born. That was the first time I held her without anyone disturbing us and I didn't even know she was a girl then.
Leila laid on the couch in just her freshly tucked nappy with Dax sleeping on the floor by her side. It was really warm today and I wished the pool was clean so we could have gone in it. The middle of summer was always nice and it reminded me of all the garden parties my parents would plan. Even though it was always filled with business people because they could never stop working, it was still fun to have all that tasty food around and get to know the other kids. That's how I met Ethan and Toby which is a little crazy to think about. I have known them for a long time.
That's where the idea of me planning a party like that came from.
Renleigh was out, doing god knows what. She said she had errands to run so she was out of the house by nine in the morning. It was currently eleven so she had only been gone for two hours even if it felt like five. It gave me some time to clean up the kitchen and the living room then let Dax out when I brought out the hoover. My boy hated the loud noise of the machine so whenever he saw someone drag it around, he made a run for it.
After that, I made a call or two to order some stuff for this garden party. I wasn't sure who would come which was not ideal since I may have overordered on the food. I should have called and texted people to see if they were available. Of course, I only had so many people I would want to invite because I had my daughter here so this was a trusted-circle event. Well, in my head, anyway.
Eventually, I sent a quick text to my girlfriend, just to let her know of my plan. I wasn't sure if she would be down for it but it was happening regardless. We needed something like this, a little get-together, to live and experience shit. We didn't really do things like this anymore and I missed having fun.
The weather was amazing outside. I was so excited to dress Leila up in her little yellow outfit and it came with a little headband. She was a tiny, three-month-old sunflower. I couldn't not take photos of her so we ended up doing a full on photoshoot which then ended in her crying her eyes out because she wasn't a fan of the idea after photo number five.
The guests arrived with the food and it was all a mess. All our friends were over and a couple of cousins of mine. Gemma was actually the first one to jump on the idea since she hasn't met Leila Grace yet. So, she took her sweet time getting to know my daughter. Until she was passed onto Brooklyn, who was obsessed with her, too. He begged me until I said yes to a photoshoot, even though I knew how it would turn out.
Tears. Screams. Used nappies. And some more tears.
Uncle Dave popped open the first beer whilst Charlotte—Malik—was busy with the food. She said it was not appetising how I left stuff in what they came in, so, she made everything look fancy as she packed them onto plates and shit. My mates were all laughing and chatting, including Zayn, since technically, this was their first-time meeting properly. It was kind of weird how everyone had the day off but I liked it because it brought life to the house, it brought excitement and knowing that we were going to move soon, it felt like a good idea to do things like this.
