Chapter 7
Cody had decided, seeing as he had nothing to do because he had the day off, that he would take the dogs for a walk. He got the dogs' leads and went out to the backyard to get them. He smiled when Saskia bounded up to him, like she always did. She needed the training on the lead so Cody decided that he would need some help. And who would be better to help him than his very own girlfriend? So, before he put the dogs' leads on, he sent a text message to Jade:
Are you busy?
Cody didn't have to wait long for a reply. Sometimes Jade needed to have her phone surgically removed from her ear. Cody excused her from this, though, because she needed her phone. Jade had told Cody, during one of her many visits to camp, that her and her mother's hairdressing business was a bit slow. To help her bring in more clients, Jade decided to try out mobile hairdressing. Therefore, she needed her phone to be on her all the time so she could take and make appointments.
Cody was pleased with Jade's response when he read her message back to him:
I am never too busy for you, handsome.
Cody smiled and sent a message back:
Come to my house.
What are you doing?
I am going to take the dogs for a walk. Do you feel like keeping me company?
Cody loved Jade, but sometimes he wished that she liked animals a bit more. It wasn't that she didn't like animals; she just didn't like things that crawled. That made Cody laugh. Crawling meant walking on four legs, and to Cody, that meant almost every single animal in the world crawled. But, Jade had met the huskies before, so she wasn't scared of them and she liked them. So Cody was pleased with her response:
I'll come. Wait for me out the front with the dogs.
Wear something suitable for walking.
Okay, fine, see you soon.
Cody did as Jade said. He clipped the dogs' leads to their collars and tried with effort to get them through the front door.
Sasha gave him no trouble.
It was just Saskia.
She had learnt what the lead meant very quickly, and she loved going for a walk.
She would always get over excited.
Before Cody left, he got some dog treats so he could work with Saskia for a while.
Seeing as Cody was the one in his family who had the most free time (his father and step mother both worked full time jobs and Catania was at school), he was told that he would train Saskia. Cody didn't mind, though, but he had been asking for more work at the ranch seeing as he wanted to teach, so he was having less and less free time. He would have to tell the others in his family that they would have to help him with her training because it shouldn't have been just his responsibility.
...
Cody gave Jade a kiss on the lips as soon as she arrived, and then they headed for the park. Cody looked at Jade's arm as they were walking, "it's good to see you have the bandage off."
At camp, Jade came to visit Cody on a number of occasions. On one occasion, Tom and Leo pranked Cody yet again. They stuck an air horn behind Ally's stall door and she got spooked. She reared and sprained Jade's arm. It was good to see that it was now healed.
Cody then took Jade's now healed arm in his hand and looked at it. Seeing as he was such a protective boyfriend, he just wanted to make sure that Jade's wrist was better. He was furious when he found out that it was Leo who made Ally spook, so if Jade's wrist was more than hurt, he still wouldn't have been happy.
