Chapter 20

Ella was over the moon when Cody told her that she would be able to spend all day at the ranch. He had asked his father and there was only one condition he came back with; Cody had to watch Ella like a hawk to make sure she wouldn't get into any trouble.

Ella was offended by that because Ian was acting as though she would do something really bad because he said she needed to be watched.

It was so offensive.

And it hurt.

Ella didn't like it, and it made her angry.

But, on the bright side, at least she got to go to the ranch all day.

She couldn't wait.

And after Ella finished her breakfast, she went back to her room to get ready for the day. She wished that she had her phone to text Kayla to ask her to come at the same time, but she didn't, so she would just have to wait for her friend and wonder when she would arrive.

When Ella was ready, she waited in the lounge room for Cody and Catania. Cody said he would take both girls to the ranch. Ella didn't have to wait long for Catania to come because she was just as eager to get to the ranch and spend all day with Kahli. She told Ella about her plans for the day the night before.

Cody soon arrived and he and the girls headed to the car to get to the ranch. And when they arrived, Cody parked his car and the girls eagerly stepped out. There was so much that Ella had to do.

She needed to see Kayla.

And see Billy.

And then spend as much time as possible with Blaze.

Ella couldn't wait, so she raced to the barn to see how Blaze was.

Ella made it to Blaze's stall and he was so happy to see her. His ears pricked up and he walked to the stall door to greet his rider. He hung his head low and Ella didn't hesitate to hug the blood bay gelding. It seemed that he hugged her back, too, because he pressed his head onto Ella's back.

It seemed that they both missed each other.

And Ella couldn't wait to saddle the horse up.

"I have been waiting all week to ride with you," Kayla exclaimed as she wrapped her arms around Ella.

Ella stopped hugging Blaze and she turned to face Kayla, "so have I," she replied, "I am never going to get myself ground ever again."

Kayla smiled and patted Ella on the head, "good girl."

"So, what's been happening? How was your lesson with Cody?"

"I am happy I am not awkward around him anymore. Did he tell you about the test?"

Ella nodded, "yes, but I knew nothing about it."

"Neither did I, but I hope it's worth it. I am going to be studying hard," replied Kayla.

"Do you know when it is?"

"No."

"Oh, well, let's just hope it will be when I am not grounded anymore," said Ella.

"I am sure it will."

"We should get saddled up for the lesson."

With that, Kayla and Ella went into the tack room to get their horses' tack so they could get into the arena as fast as they could. Ella cross tied Blaze in his stall and began grooming him before she saddled him up. It was so good spending time with Blaze and because of it, Ella knew that she would never get herself grounded again.
