Chapter 12

Catania was excited for dinner with Scott. It was sad how she would hardly get to spend a lot of time with her boyfriend because of the workload of year twelve. But Catania was going to do her best to find as much time possible for school work, riding, lessons and time with Scott. Ian always talked about work and life balance so Catania was going to listen. She was good at listening to her father.

Catania stood in front of her mirror as she got herself ready. She had just got back from the ranch and had a shower so she wouldn't smell like horses for her dinner date. And now she just had to choose something to wear and make herself look good for the date.

Catania finally found something she wanted to wear. It was her favourite black dress and some black heels. Catania liked this dress because it was the same dress she wore on her first fate with Scott when he first asked her out. He said that she looked great in the dress, and it suited her. Catania liked hearing the compliment, so she was happy to wear the dress again.

When Catania was ready, she made her way into the lounge room, noticing that Cody was looking at her.

"What?" she asked.

"Someone looks snazzy," Cody teased.

Well, that wasn't the compliment she wanted to hear. The dress wasn't supposed to make her look snazzy.

"I don't want to look snazzy."

"How do you want to look?"

Catania shrugged her shoulders. She knew how she wanted the dress to make her look, but she didn't know if she wanted to tell Cody.

"Come on," Cody urged.

"Well," Catania gave in, "I want to look sexy."

Cody smiled, "you definitely look sexy."

"That's better than snazzy."

"Good."

"Where are mum and dad?" asked Catania.

"In the kitchen," replied Cody.

Catania then looked at the beer in Cody's hand, "you're starting early."

Cody looked at Catania and raised an eyebrow, "it's one, Catty, and you know I always have one with dinner, just like daddy dear."

"I should go and say goodbye to mum and dad."

With that, Catania went into the kitchen and both of her parents smiled at her when she got in. And Amy couldn't stop telling her daughter how beautiful she looked.

"How are you getting to Scott's, honey?" asked Amy while she was washing some vegetables.

"He is coming to pick me up, and I'll be back tomorrow," replied Catania, getting out of the kitchen as fast as she could. Her dad wouldn't have liked hearing that she would be spending the night at Scott's house.

"Cat," said Ian.

Catania stopped in her tracks.

Great.

Ian had something to say.

She turned around and looked at her father.

"Are you staying at Scott's house?" asked Ian.

Catania nodded, "he said I could."

"I want you to come home tonight."

Catania glared at her father, "what? Why?"

"I don't want you to stay at Scott's house."

Great. Catania knew Ian would say that.

"But, dad, I want to stay," she said.
