14: forgetting

it was dark.

he could hear voices, they were unrecognizable, but they were there. his hearing was muffled and ears were ringing. there was a high pitched beeping next to him, so he assumed he was alive.

tyler tried to open his eyes but his eyelids were really heavy, and it was like he had something holding them in place.

he started to panic, internally hyperventilating since apparently his body wasn't doing the same thing as his brain. it's like he was trapped in his own skin.

he heard the muffled beeping getting louder and someone yelling what sounded like 'doctor!'

who is that voice? his dad, maybe?

or maybe his brother?

no, definitely not. his brother is way younger and that voice sounded like a teenager.

tyler didn't know what was happening.

soon, he felt his arms being prodded and poked and he began to cough. there was something stuck in his throat, so he couldn't breathe.

the thing was quickly pulled out(which hurt like hell), and tyler tried to open his eyes again. they actually opened.

he's in a hospital. what? he doesn't understand.

he looked around the room and didn't recognize anyone.

there were doctors and nurses of course, but then there were five people in the corner.

the first one he noticed was a girl with tears staining her cheeks. she was maybe around 10. he didn't know who she was. she looked kinda like his little sister. but there's no way that's maddy. maddy is only 7. that's not his sister.

then he saw the little boy sitting on the floor. he was maybe around 3 or 4. tyler had absolutely no clue who that boy is. he didn't recognize him one bit.

then there was another boy, maybe around 15. he looked so scared. this boy looked like zack. but there's no way this is zack right? zack is only 11. isn't he?

there was some grown up guy who tyler had never seen in his life.

but the last one tyler looked to was a boy around 16, maybe 17. he was crying, and he had his arm around not-maddy. who is he?

maybe all of these people are related to brendon. he did say that some of his family was visiting. yeah, that's probably it. but then again, where would brendon be? he's not here.

"tyler? tyler, can you hear me?"

tyler snapped out of his thoughts and looked up. there was a doctor standing there, her brown hair tied up in a bun.

"y-yeah. what's happening?"

his voice sounds weird.

"you're in the hospital. do you know what for?" tyler shook his head. the doctor looked worried.

"can you tell me who those people over there are?"

again, tyler shook his head. he had no clue.

"that girl; do you recognize her at all?" tyler watched as the little girl shook the teenagers arm off of her shoulder and stepped forward to the bed. tyler shook his head.
