Chapter 9: Celeste

I sat downstairs with my friends who were asking me a gazillion questions about Jake but all I could think about was Blake and how sick he probably looked. He always seemed so sure of everything, even when he drank a lot, he seemed to he so strong and confident in himself. I would never believe that he had been sick all this time.

All my friends turned when they heard someone coming down the stairs and sure enough, Jake appeared in all his hotness. He looked super hot in the clothes I gave him, his green eyes met mine and he gave me a wink. My friends all swooned and gave me looks of approval.

"I feel better now...do you guys wanna go out and get breakfast?" He asked everyone and all my friends nodded before running upstairs to get ready. I looked at him, we were alone now.

"Steven told me some things that made me feel better." He said coming over to where I was sitting and he kissed my forehead,

"After breakfast can we go see him?" I asked and he nodded quickly,

"That was my plan...you should probably get ready also." He said as he moved out of my way, I got out of the chair and hugged him. He hugged me back before going out to his car.

I went upstairs and into my room where all my friends were getting ready, they were all doing make up and picking out the cutest outfits.

"You're new bae is mighty fine!" Destiny said excitedly as she tied her long red hair into a high ponytail. She wore make-up that made her eyes pop.

"Thanks..." I said looking at all of my friends who looked so pretty. I went to my closet and picked out a pretty pink sweet heart dress that cut off a little above my knees. I picked white sandals and after I changed I did a more natural make-up look than all the other girls. I brushed out my hair and I left it down. We all went downstairs at the same time and Jake was in the car waiting for us,

"Shotgun!" Eva said fixing her skirt and hopping into the passenger seat.

Everyone piled into the back seats of his truck, we drove off and Jake looked at me through the rearview mirror and mouthed 'you look nice' and I smiled and he smiled back widely. We got to a diner and after he parked all the girls got out and Jake turned off his car and somehow found my hand with his. We held hands as we followed Eva, Destiny, Maria, Jamie, and Kendra. Destiny glanced over her shoulder at us before turning her head straight again. We got into the diner and I sat next to Jake and Eva sat next to us and Destiny, Maria, and Jamie sat across from us.

Jake wrapped an arm around my shoulder and kissed my cheek with a dozen quick pecks. I tried to hide my smile but I couldn't help it and he smiled against my cheek before giving me one last peck.

"Good morning girls...and boy!" A waitress in her late 30s addressed our table with a larger than life smile.

"What would y'all like to drink?" She started off and the girls ordered while Jake whispered sweet nothings into my ear,

"For you two?" The waitress asked addressing us,

"Coffee for both of us, please." Jake said reading my mind.

After she left, Destiny started a conversation with Jake about Blake, trying to get him to open up but whenever she asked an uncomfortable question, he'd squeeze my hand.

"What'll you do If he dies?" she asked and I couldn't help but kick her shin under the table.

"Shut up Destiny." Eva said leaning over the table to send her a glance.

"Sorry..." She said pursing her lips and leaning back into the booth.

"Ready for the check?" The waitress asked saving us from the awkward tension that Eva had created.
