Chapter 1: Celeste

"Celeste...can you please go on another round and collect trash?" I nodded as I adjusted my nametag. "Sure thing...I'll make my rounds and head to the dump area." I answered looking up at the woman in charge. Her name tag read Anne, she had red hair tied up in a messy bun and she looked extremely stressed.

"Okay..." She said shuffling me out, I tied my hair up as I walked, it was really humid outside. I shuffled to the first trash can and avoided eye contact and physical contact with any of the rich attendants of the event.

I had volunteered for a charity event to get some extra community service hours to help me get extra scholarship opportunities. I was going to start senior year after the summer which just started yesterday. I know what a great way to be spending my summer. I just couldn't wait to graduate.

The charity event was being held by the Charson's for their super athletic son who was the star player of his soccer and basketball team. The Charson's were one of the richest families in the state and they threw amazing parties every year. I heard their son is gorgeous and they're daughter is a super model but I haven't seen either of them yet.

Everything was so strict and I was beginning to regret my decision. I wasn't allowed to look at or touch any of the guests, they made that very clear when directing us on our duties and I personally didn't want any attention so I gladly obliged to the rules although some protested.

I took the first full bag and tied it, replacing it with a new trash bag. Then I headed to the golf cart supplied so we could bring the full trash bags to the dump site which was about a half hour away. Most of the garbage cans were still empty, I had two large bags on the golf cart already.

I looked into the last trash can and it was somewhat full so I pulled it out, replaced the trash bag, and took the long way around to get to the golf cart. I fingered my back pocket to make sure the key was still there.

"Excuse me? Can I throw this out?" I quickly looked up when a person touched my shoulder gently. It was a boy around my age, seventeen, and he was tall, had beautiful gray eyes, blonde hair that was gelled up, and he was smiling at me.

"Oh uh sure." I said quickly tearing my eyes away from the attractive guy in front of me and giving nothing more than a small smile. "I'm not like the snobby rich people, I won't freak out on you for talking to me. I'm Blake by the way." He spoke, his voice was deep and I felt a smile trying to poke its way out.

"I'm Celeste..." I responded and looked at him as I untied the garbage bag and held it out to him. "Oh thanks..." He said tossing away two plates and a plastic cup. "No problem." I said awkwardly and he smiled wider at me.

"How old are you?" He asked breaking the silence, "Seventeen, What about you?" I answered, "Eighteen...I just graduated." He said with shining eyes. "I can't wait to graduate." I sighed and shrugged as I held the garbage bag tightly. "I should get going...I have to get this to the dump site." I said as he scratched his neck nervously.

"Um do you think I could get your number?" He asked as I was about to leave, I nodded and gave him my number and he inserted it into his phone. "Thanks...I'll call you sometime." He said biting his bottom lip. I couldn't help my smile as he did that, "I'll be waiting...see ya." I said and he nodded before going back to where he came from.

I couldn't help the smile on my face as I walked and began tying the garbage bag again. Suddenly, I bumped into a person and it caused me to drop the garbage bag and some trash fell out and littered the ground. "I'm so sorry...let me help you." The person I bumped into said and kneeled to help me. "No that's okay I-I...". I began but was quickly distracted when I came face to face with the most gorgeous guy I had ever seen in my life.
