Chapter Forty Nine

Sunday Night
{Dean's POV}

   I rushed Cas in the emergency room. "Help!"

   That was all I needed to say before nurses came running towards me with a stretcher. They pried him out of my arms, onto the bed. They started wheeling him away. I tried following them, but a couple of nurses stopped me.

   "I need to go with him. I need to make sure he's okay. He doesn't like hospitals. Please." I tried to push my way through them.

   "He'll be fine. We'll make sure he gets the care he needs." The male nurse gently pushed me away.

   "You don't understand, I need to be with him. I'm not going to leave him alone again. Just, please, let me be with him." I pleaded.

   "I'm sorry. We can't let you back there. What happened?" The female nurse asked.

   "I..." I said the first lie I could think of. "He's been missing for a couple days. I found him. He was taken by some psychopath."

   "What is your relationship to the patient?" She walked over to the front desk.

   I followed her. "We're married."

   She raised an eyebrow. "Married? You look like you're in high school."

   "Yeah, we are. Our parents let us get married. So?" I tried to sound convincing.

   "Okay. What is the patient's full name and date of birth?" She started typing on the computer.

   "Castiel Jimmy Novak. August 20th, 1997." I told her.

   "Can you fill out these papers?" She handed me a clipboard.

   "Sure." I grabbed them.

   I sat in the waiting room, looking down at the papers. I shouldn't be filling out stupid paperwork. I should be with Cas, making sure he's alright. He hates hospitals. I remember when I told him I was terrified of airplanes, I got embarrassed. Instead of laughing at me, Cas told me he was afraid of hospitals and doctors.

   God, I'm so stupid. This should have never happened. Cas doesn't deserve this. I'm the one who deserves this.

   "How is he?" My dad came and sat next to me.

   "I don't know. They took him away. I couldn't go with him. For all I know, he's dead." I kept my eyes on the papers.

   "Shouldn't you have his parents do this paperwork?" He tapped the clipboard.

   "I can fill these out. You'd be surprised at how much I know about Cas." I started filling everything out. "Can I use your wedding ring?"

   "For what?" He asked.

   "I told them Cas and I were married. I know if I tell them I'm just his boyfriend, they won't let me see him. I put Cas' promise ring on his finger while we were driving here."

   He was quiet for a few seconds before handing me a gold band. I grabbed it.

   "Thank you." I put it on.

   "You really love him." He stated more than asked.

   I looked up at him. "I do. He's so different than anyone I've been with."
