Chapter sixteen: The truth

After school Spencer went home to spend some quality time with Dillon. When he walked through the door he saw Carmen and his mom sitting on the couch talking. "Spencer what are you doing here? It's Wednesday." she said "Yeah I know, I just wanted to spend some quality time with Dillon that's all." just then Dillon came running into the living room "Hey Spencer." he said as him and Spencer did a little handshake "Sup little man. You wanna go hang out at the park?" he asked "Yeah!" Dillon said as he quickly headed into his room and came back with a football "We'll be back later." Spencer said to his mom and he and Dillon walked out of the house.

"He's such a sweet kid." Carmen said "Yeah he's great." Grace said "So what did you want to talk about?" Grace asked "What do you know about Spencer's friend Sophie?" she asked "Not much, she's a newer friend." Grace said "Do you think she's your daughter?" she asked "I-I think she might be." Carmen said "Well what are you going? Are you going to tell her?" Grace asked, she shook her head "I want to ask Spencer. I don't want to do anything that might freak her out." Carmen said "Well like I said she's a new friend, I think you might have more luck with Olivia or Jordan Baker." Grace said "You think?" Carmen asked, Grace nodded her head, Carmen nodded "Okay, I'm going to talk to Leo about, I don't want to make contact with her if he isn't on board." she said.

After a few hours Spencer and Dillon came home and found that Darnell was back and Leo was there now too. "Leo and Carmen are staying over for dinner." Grace said "Cool." Dillon said as he went to the kitchen sink to wash his hands before coming back and sitting at the dining room table. Spencer did the same and sat in between Dillon and Leo. "So Spencer how's school?" Leo asked "It's good." he said, it was just three of them including Darnell at the table, Carmen and Grace were in the kitchen putting the finishing touches on dinner, Darnell and Dillon were talking so they weren't paying attention to what Leo and Spencer were talking about "What did you and Carmen talk about the other night?" Spencer asked, Leo looked at him "Your mom told you didn't she?" he asked "Yeah. I won't tell anyone. " Spencer said "I know you won't." Leo said as he took a sip of his drink "So do you think she's yours?" Spencer said "Honestly? Yeah I do. That's what me and Carmen were talking about the other day at the Bar BQ." he said. Spencer nodded, that was all the conformation that he needed.
