Chapter eighteen: Secrets revealed

It had been a week since Jordan and Sophie started dating "So have you told her yet?" Spencer asked as he took another spoonful of cereal into his mouth "No not yet. Everything is really good with us right now I don't want to mess it up. I've been wishing for this to happen since middle school." he said "All I'm saying is don't wait too long to tell her." Spencer said "Yeah I know." he said. "And don't forget BBQ at my place tonight." he said "Don't worry I won't forget, hey can I bring Soph?" he asked "Sure." Spencer said

Sophie was eating more and more that she would eat breakfast at her house with her parents watching her. She knew now that she wasn't only doing this for herself but for her parents, friends and Jordan. Once she was done eating she grabbed her school stuff and headed to the front door where she saw Jordan's car waiting in the driveway with him, she smiled as she skipped down the steps and ran to the car, she got in with a smile on her face "Did you finish your breakfast?" he asked "Yes." she said "Good." he said as she was starting to back out "So what's why reward?" she asked, he chuckled "What do you want it to be?" he asked "I don't know but I have a few ideas." she said as she slowly leaned over and pressed her lips onto his, he kissed her back, then they pulled away and he drove off towards school. "So what are you doing tonight?" Jordan asked "Um, nothing why?" she asked smiling "Spencer is having another BBQ at his house and I was wondering if you wanted to come with me." Jordan said "I'd love too." Sophie said with a smile "Okay so we'll head straight there after school, you me, Olivia, Asher and Leila." he said "Sounds good." Sophie said nodding her head. 

"We need to tell her before the BBQ, her biological parents are going to be there." Olivia said to the boys, the three of them were all huddled in a corner "Are they acting weird to you?" Sophie asked Leila as she looked at them from her locker "Um, no, but maybe Jordan is planning a surprise for you." Leila said "I guess." Sophie said, just then the bell rang "I'll see you later." Leila said "Yeah bye." Sophie said as Leila headed to her class, Sophie walked over to the small group "Hey guys." she said "We better get going." Olivia said as her and Spencer headed to class "See you later Soph." Olivia said "Bye Sophie." Jordan said "What was that all about?" Sophie asked as Jordan put his arm over her and they walked to class "Nothing important." he said shaking his head "Okay." Sophie said nodding but she didn't believe it and Jordan could tell, he stopped her in the middle of the hallway, he turned to face her "It's nothing okay?" he said, rubbing her arms "You sure?" she said "Positive." he said kissing her forehead "Okay. Come on we don't want to be late for class." she said, he smiled and they continued on to class.

During class Spencer texted Leo letting him know that Sophie was coming "So I told Leo." Spencer said "You did?" Olivia said "I just said she was coming." he said "You think they'll tell her?" Olivia said "I don't know, but I mean I don't think they should hide it from her." Spencer said "Hide what?" Sophie said as her and Jordan came and sat with them "Nothing. It's nothing." Olivia said "Your still a terrible liar Liv you know that?" Sophie said taking a bite from her lunch "Come on tell me." she said "It's nothing really." she said "Okay." Sophie said in a tone that you could tell she definitely didn't believe her.

After school Jordan, Sophie, Olivia, Asher and Leila all headed to Crenshaw for the BBQ. Once they got there and they saw Leo and Carmen, Jordan and Olivia exchanged a look "Oh you guys made it." Grace said as she motioned them to join the group of people in the backyard "What was that look you and Jordan shared all about?" Asher whispered Olivia, she looked around, Leila was busy and so was Jordan and Sophie who were talking to her biological parents "You can't say anything okay?" she said, he nodded "Spencer thinks that the couple over there is Sophie's biological parents." she said "Wait really?" Asher said "But you can't say anything okay? Promise me." she said, he nodded his head "Yeah I promise." he said 

Everyone was having a blast at the BBQ "Okay I'm telling her tonight, after the Bar BQ." Jordan said to Spencer and Olivia "You sure about this?" Spencer asked "She needs to know the truth." Jordan said, Just then a very drunk Leo stumbled over to Sophie "Hola Sophia." he said "Hola." she said back "I have something that I want to tell you." he said "Okay?" she said "Your mother and I have something to tell you." he said "You know my mother?" she asked "Yes of course I was there the day you were born.You were so little." he said "I was adopted." she said " Yes but you came from somewhere no?" he asked "Wait?" she said shaking her head "Your my biological father?" she said, "There you are mi amour." Carmen said as she helped keep Leo upright "And your my biological mother?" Sophie asked pointing at the two of them and backing away, Carmen looked at her husband surprised "You told her?" she said "Told who what?" Leo asked then looked at Sophie "Oh that she's ours? Yes. I just though that she would have already known since I told Spencer." everyone at the BBQ was quite watching the scene in front of them "Wait what?" she said "Sophie I can explain." Spencer said "You knew and you didn't tell me?" she said pointing at him tears in her eyes "It's not his fault I told him not to say anything. I-" Jordan was cut off "You knew about this too?" she said, she let out a short a breath and looked at Olivia "Liv did you know?" she asked "Sophie I'm so so sorry." she said "So all of you knew? That's why you guys had been acting weird around me for the past few weeks? You knew." she said as her voice broke "Sophie I am so sorry." Jordan said "And you and me? What? That was to distract me? You didn't want me finding out about this? So those things you said at the football game about how you though about me while I was gone that was a lie?" she asked "No! Everything that I said to you at the football game that was all true!" he said "You expect me to believe you now? To believe any of you guys now!" she asked tears streaming down her face "Sophie we can explain." Carmen said "Explain? You two abandoned me when I was two years old! And what after fifteen years you want a relationship with me? You want to get to know me? Where were you when I wanted to meet you guys when I was five? Where were you when my parents gave me a quinces to honour my latina side and I invited you and you never responded to the invite huh? I gave you so many damn chances to get to know me and you chose now? You wanna get to know me? Fine. When I was eight I learned how to ride a bicycle, I fell flat on my face and had to get stitches, when I was ten I went to my first sleepover and had to call my mom in the middle of the night to come pick me up because I was homesick, when I was twelve I had my first crush and couldn't stop talking about Jordan for months and never got over it no matter how hard I tried, when I was thirteen I got my first period and my parents sat me down and had the talk, when I was fifteen my dad took me to a abandoned parking lot and taught me how to drive. Right before my sixteenth birthday I left Beverly Hills because my parents found out I had a eating disorder and though a change of scenery would help, but it didn't and I didn't get over my eating disorder until I came back home and reconnected with my friends and got help. Now you know me." she said then walked off, everyone at the BBQ was speechless "Sophie, Sophie wait." Jordan said as he chased after her "How could you not tell me? I though there were no secrets between us. You know about my eating disorder and I know about your family drama I though we would always be honest with each other." she said "We would, we are always honest with each other." he said, she shook her head "Well clearly you and me have very different definitions on the word honest." she said as she continued to walk away "Soph, wait." he said grabbing her arm, she pulled away and looked at him "Just please leave me alone." she said. Back at the BBQ Olivia looked at Asher "Maybe see if she wants a ride home, I'll just get a ride with Jordan or Leila." Olivia said "You sure?" Asher said "Yeah, and plus I don't really think she wants to be in a car with me right now." she said, he nodded his head "Text me when you get home?" he asked "Yeah." she said as she gave him a quick kiss.

Asher walked up to then end of Sophie and Jordan's conversation "Just please leave me alone." she said "Hey Soph, Liv though you might want to head home." he said, she broke her eye contact with Jordan and looked at Asher giving him a small smile "Yeah that'd be great." she said, then she looked at Jordan "Liv has my stuff just tell her to give it to Leila." she said before she got into Asher's car and drove off. The whole ride home Sophie didn't say anything, as they pulled up to Sophie's house Asher said "I'm sure they were just trying to protect you." she nodded "I guess." she said as she got out of the car "Thanks for the ride. Nigh Asher." she said "Nigh Soph." he said, she gave him a small smile before closing the car door and heading inside her house. Her parents were out having dinner with some friends. She slowly climbed the stairs of her house and walked into her bedroom, she didn't even bother to change, she just walked over to her bed got under the covers and cried herself to sleep that night.
