Chapter 10
She was sitting on her bed now. She had used the chance to take her bath. Hannah had added treatments to her hair before she ran out to get tea and pound cake.
" My mom has gone to the market" she said as she came in with a tray and headed towards the bed.
"Thank you" Dara said
" Okay so Timininu comes from a very prestigious family in Nigeria. In fact the most prestigious of families. His family consist of the most powerful families" Hannah said as she sat up. She reminded her of Derin whenever she came to her room to share some new Nollywood insider gossip.
" What do you mean by that" Dara asked
" You know how they say they are people richer than Dangote in Nigeria, in ways that make him look like we mid class citizens" she paused as Dara nodded. She did hear that alot but just never believed it
" Let me start from the beginning. See in that Nigeria. They is a circle of wealthy families. Called the Islanders that live on an island on the island"
" That's ridiculous. There's just one island now" she said hysterically
" are you referring to the cabals"
" No, they are people above the cabals. They are the real Islanders" Hannah said in a way that sent chills running down Dara's spine
" So all my rich friends that live on the island and all that people are all in on this." Dara asked.
" Oooh no, there are just like Mexicans, they are immigrants. The main Islanders on the other half are very private and exclusive yet opened" she said as she stood up to the dresser.
" Come let's start straightening your hair" Dara stood up from the bed and walked towards her.
" So how do they relate with Timi" she asked as Hannah tilted her hair to the side. Wrapped a towel around Dara's shoulders before walking up to her bag and bringing out a blow dryer and a straightner.
"You heard the rumors that they are places in Nigeria where they don't spend naira"
" Yes, I have, but it's an Abuja thing right" Dara said as she looked at Hannah who's back was turned to her as she held tight to the towel around her shoulder.
" Nope, Lagos. Timi's mom is Abachas daughter and his father is the son of a business tycoon family oil and gas, agriculture, stores, Telecommunication companies, owning almost all franchised businesses in Africa, schools, real estates both home and abroad.
Mention anything their names will pop up. That is his parternal grandfather, who is still alive by the way was said to have had an affair with the queens sister, Princess Alexander and still has ties with the royal family. He said to be the most influential man in Nigeria. " She said as she held on to Dara's shoulders as they stared at eachother through the mirror." Then how come I have never heard of him" she asked cluelessly
" Because he is a dead man" Hannah said
" But you just said he was alive " she said
" He is only alive to the people who should know. Anyway, at 14 Timi got married to his wife Fadilah" .
" What!" She yelled as she turned to look at Hannah's face for signs that will insinuate that she was joking
" Oh yes, marrying off children was never a poor people thing, they married the name and the shares and affluence that came with it" Hannah said with her accent as she took a dab of cream from a cup and rubbed it between her hands before applying it to Dara'shair.
