Two days went by since the incidence at the dinning room. Everyone was silent and even the kitchen which used to be a crowded and joyful place became awkwardly too quiet since the arrival of the princes and the princess of Calormia. Peter and Caspian were busy with their duties as a king and Pearl would help in the kitchen as well. During her spare time, she would loom around the garden with Lucy and help her finding any medical herbs. Whereas Susan was busy away, trying to find the perfect dress for her wedding. Thank to the assistance of Pearl, she could find the perfect design which matched her standard for the ballroom. The three girls would always spend time together but the poorest one was the just king.

Not only did he have to train his soldiers and guards for any upcoming war but he also had to bear and acknowledge the presence of Scheherazade. She would always stick him up, invade his personal space and force him to spend a day with her. The only times that Edmund could spend alone were when he had to take a shower or when he had to go to sleep. He swore under his breath that when Scheherazade was there, he felt like the hours wouldn't budge.

After getting rid of her, he climbed the stairs without stopping at Pearl's room. This one took a quick note of the exhausted state of the just king and felt a pang of empathy. She then took a step outside her room and rushed toward him. She tapped her finger hesitantly on his right shoulder as the king jumped from her touch.

"Oh it's you, I thought for a moment that it was princess snobbish" he sighed with a huge relief as Pearl chuckled.

"I am so sorry Edmund; I didn't mean to frighten you. You seemed to be in a very bad state" Pearl indicated

"Well, it's just Scheherazade; she is a real pain in the ass. She won't leave me alone until I am exhausted and I can't put up with her. Moreover, their foods are really hard to swallow. Trust me I try to deal with it but I guess I won't make it until the wedding of Sue and Caspian" he rubbed his eyes

"I don't have any magical potion which can make her disappear and I truly wish I had. However I may have something which can help you against the heartburn. Just hold on" She was about to leave when Edmund whispered in her ear.

"All right just meet me at the garden, I would like to show you something" he smirked as the brunette nodded before walking to the kitchen only to find Lucy sitting peacefully in its center. Pearl smiled innocently at the queen.

"Lucy? Aren't you supposed to be in your room? It's quite late" Pearl questioned gaining the attention of the young queen. The brunette then noticed that Lucy was eating a bowl of soup made by Babbity.

"I should but .... I can't put up with these exotic foods. It's hard to digest since we all have a gustative stomach" Lucy said while eating

"You must be starving" Pearl commented while pouring some herbal tea in two different cups.

"How about you Pearl, why are up at such hour?" Lucy stared at the girl

"Well I was about to sleep, when I saw the king Edmund rushing toward his room. He looked really exhausted and sick so I wanted to give him this cup of herbal tea. It will sooth his heartburn and I guess it's also good for you" Pearl placed one of the cup in front of Lucy who smiled in response.

"Thank you so much for being so caring and for taking care of us Pearl" Lucy sipped the tea and exhaled deeply "hummm, it's so energizing" Lucy commented

"I am glad I could help Lucy. Now if you would excuse me I need to bring this to the just king otherwise it will cool down" Pearl curtsied before departing. She then made her way toward the garden and saw Edmund leaning against the main door obviously waiting for her.
