I found this topic pretty interesting myself, so why not share. This is probably going to be a short chapter, just a heads up.
.................................................................
"Natural mummification is defined as the process by which the skin and organs of a deceased person or animal are preserved, without the introduction of chemicals by humans."
.................................................................For starters, there's more than one way to mummify a corpse.
Ancient Egyptians practiced perhaps the most well-known method: extracting organs, embalming the body and wrapping the remains in linens. But mumification can occur naturally, too.
Another thing; Not every part of the body mummifies at the same time. Some internal organs, like the heart, take longer to dry out than say, hands or fingers would. And the time it takes also heavily depends on the environment the corpse is in. For example, a body left in an open, hot area like a desert would preserve much faster than one in a wetter or more shaded environment.
"Bodies left in hot, arid environments can typically
mummify in about two weeks, while the process typically takes a couple of months in enclosed locations. Remains in mild environments take about three months"
.................................................................That's all I could think to put in this chapter... So here's a mummified cat 🤷🏼♂️🤦🏼♂️
(Not my image, obviously)
