Yes,
There is a difference. And it's mostly to do with design and preference.

A casket is rectangular, and often made of cast iron or wood. It has two "doors" that can both be opened for viewings, and the inside is more often than not padded with pillow-y stuff. The price for these can be from $2,000 to $10,000
((Below: an example of a casket))

As for coffins, they're more like what you'd imagine a vampire to sleep in 🤷🏼‍♂️They're more "human shaped", so to speak, as they're tapered at the top (where the head would be) and bottom (where the feet would be)

Coffins are usually made of some sort of wood like ply wood, but some choose to have the body put into a cardboard coffin to be cremated

There's also an option to be burried in an "eco-coffin" or casket, which is also made of cardboard, but I'll get into that in another chapter. The price for cardboard coffins (for crematory purposes) can be from $20 to $250.

So is one better than the other?Like I said, it all depends on your preference

Like I said, it all depends on your preference.
Coffins are usually not as "flash" (fancy, decorated) as caskets, but I'm sure you could get one done up all fancy if you really wanted to.
Caskets and coffins cost about the same, but then again it depends on what material you would like them to be made of (wood, iron, plastic, fibreglass, ect.)
As for cardboard coffins, they're a decent price for something that's simply going to get burnt. I guess there's no more to it than that. Everyone has their own opinions on what's a better option, so it's up to you which is better ✌🏻
