"You never came to eat." Peter spoke, arms crossed as he stood over his younger brother who was sat in the library, eyes staring at the page of a book.
"Not hungry." Came Edmund's distracted reply.
"I've asked around, and no one's seen you eat all day! It's almost 7!"
"I've been preoccupied."
"With WHAT? Peter asked, exasperated. Oh, the pains of an Eagle brother.
"OWLs."
"There's-" the blond scanned the page his brother seemed to be skimming for the 5th time since he'd arrived, "nothing on Patronuses in the OWL syllabus and- especially not coinciding Patronuses!"
"Will you just leave me in peace?" The raven-haired boy begged, looking to his brother in frustration.
"Not until you- Oh! I know what you're doing!"
Edmund groaned, his forehead falling onto the book in front of him.
"You're researching about your Patronus! Why it was an Owl like Sanya's and- oh..." Peter trailed off as he pulled the book from under his slouched brother and skimmed the page. "Oh."
Edmund snatched the book back, "There's probably another explanation. That IS only ONE page of ONE book. Just because THAT says we're most likely - we're most likely 'soulmates' means nothing! LOADS of people must have owl Patronuses!"
"I suppose." Peter replied, but sounded rather sceptical that the only book on Patronuses in the whole library- 'The Book of Patronuses'- would be wrong about, well, Patronuses.
"THERE you are Ed! What're you two looking so baffled at?" Al spoke, wandering round the corner to see both Pevensie brothers pondering over a book.
Immediately, said book was snapped shut.
"Nothing." The brothers' replied simultaneously before giving each other unimpressed looks.
Albus narrowed his eyes, "Come on, tell!"
"I've an essay to write. See you both tomorrow!" Peter spoke, getting to his feet.
"Oh- See you." The Potter replied, watching the eldest Pevensie leave hastily, Edmund glaring after him.
"So, what're we reading?" He spoke, dropping into Peter's recently-departed seat beside Edmund.
"Oh, Patronuses." Al said interestedly, as he snatched the book away from Ed before he could even open his mouth. "I keep meaning to research them but after spending an entire year in the library last year I've got- complementary Patronuses?"
Edmund was quiet as he saw his best friend skim the page he had read twenty times and knew by heart.
'Based on the fact that Patronuses are conjured by recalling happy memories, it stands to reason that a Patronus might change its form after one falls in love and the memories used to conjure the Patronus largely revolve around the person the caster is in love with. In addition, it seems that some couples have "complementary" Patronuses (male and female forms of the same animal), such as Lily and James Potter. It is, however, unknown if this is a coincidence or if it is because of the long-studied and very probable notion of 'soulmates'- people who share two parts of the same soul, according to Wizarding lore and study. '
"So." Albus began awkwardly a moment later, Edmund bravely making himself meet his expressionless green eyes. "You and my girlfriend are soulmates. That's... nice."
"It doesn't HAVE to be that." Edmund said at once, just as awkward and sounding nonchalant as a result. "It says it's unknown and could be a pure coincidence. And owls are common."
