Mallika's Point Of View
Hush! I finally reached home. Me being me, left the club without Nahush and ended up being late. Actually, very late!
First of all, I didn't know where that club was located. So, I didn't know the routes back home. So while walking in some random direction I saw a married couple and asked them the address of a nearby railway station. I reached the railway station by asking for directions from some passersby. And since I didn't have sufficient money with me to take a taxi, I had to go to the railway station on walking but the problem was that the railway station was almost 35 minutes to walk and on top of that it was already 8:20 p.m.
Second, my mobile got switched off due to lack of charging so I couldn't notify anyone of where I was. By anyone I mean, Nahush's parents as they are the only one who I feel cares about me.
Third, the saree of mine made it very difficult for me to travel as some people were staring at me. I don't know why it feels so awkward. I remember my college last year's saree day. As always I was going to go to college by walking but some people were staring at me. Like literally staring! So out of embarrassment or I can say shyness I took a taxi to College.
Even after getting out of the railway station, I had to go home walking because of insufficient money. And on top of that, I was walking really very slowly for obvious reasons because I was very sad. Today I was humiliated in front of his friends. And it was heights when my husband danced with some other girl that too almost stuck together. He was enjoying it and I was angry but my heart hurt. My heart hurt seeing him happy with some other girl.
It shouldn't matter to him whatever he does, should it?
"Of course, it should! He is your husband!"
But he treats me badly. He does not respect me. He hates me for no reason.
"Ya right... but still, he is your legally wedded husband. Whatever he does should obviously matter to you."
Huh? God! I again started talking to myself. Actually, I always do.
Talking with ourselves is better than relying on someone to let our feelings out.
Why do I have to see all those things? I really did well that I left from there and did not stay over there waiting for him like I didn't have any self-respect.
Does he even know that his wife is not in the club? I am sure he must be still there parting with his so-called rich brats of friends. Anyway, it's very late, almost 10:30 am.
The Watchman Dada (Brother), Durvesh, opens the gate for me and I thank him with a small smile and ask, "You are studying, right?"
"Yes Didi," he replied with a bright smile, and wishing him good night, I walked towards the door.
Durvesh is like a younger brother to me therefore I call him Dada in an affectionate way. He is a young boy currently doing his bachelor's but does different part-time jobs to pay his living and education fees and this is one of his part-time jobs. He really is a hardworking boy.
Rushing to the door I took out my sandals. Holding them in my left hand, I opened the door slowly. As soon as I opened the door, everyone present in the hall turned their heads towards the door. Nahush's mother was seated on the sofa holding her head. Besides her was Nishant looking worried, holding Aai's shoulder, consoling her. Baba was on his phone talking with someone looking hella worried. And there stood Nahush almost 6 steps away from the door. He was walking towards the door but halted seeing me.
