-The Tests pt.2-

Lucas sat anxiously in the hall. He'd never been good with girls, never had a girlfriend, but there was something about a Beau. He really liked her. He felt bad for not meeting her before, he'd been so preoccupied with Jolene and helping her fit in he'd forgotten how important it was to make sure he was fitting in himself equally.

"Morning." Beau found him and sat directly opposite, placing her wand down, putting her elbows on the table, resting her chin on her hands and smiling at him, more like beaming at him actually. "How are you?"

Lucas couldn't help but copy exactly what she'd just done, the smiled came naturally as hers was pretty contagious. "I'm good, how are you."

Beau laughed and kicked him from under the table. "You git, stop mocking me!"

"Sorry, I'm sorry." The laughing died down as Beau helped herself to toast. Lucas did the same. "How did you sleep?"

"Really well actually, what do you think's gunna happen today?" Beau asked him eagerly before the two of them were rudely interrupted.

"Lucas can I have a word?" Jolene was pestering her cousin again. "Please?"

Lucas took a deep breath in and turned to her. "Jo, can I please just have breakfast with Beau, that's all I wanna do right now. Don't you have any friends you can talk to?" Jolene just stared at him blankly.

"Look, Jo, why don't you go find Gabby, I'm sure she'd talk to you." Suggested Beau and Jolene's face sort of gradually lit up.

"Thanks Beau, I'll do that." Jolene stood up and smiled at them both. "You two are cute by the way." She commented before skipping out of the hall and off to find Gabrielle Wood.

Lucas turned back to Beau and gave her an apologetic look. "Sorry."

"Don't be, she's just struggling to fit in." Beau told him. "Everyone gets it, you're just the most familiar person to her." Lucas nodded before looking back down at his toast. "Anyway, I was thinking that whatever today holds, we could work through it together? We make a pretty good team." Beau asked, her stomach turning as she waited for his reply.

Lucas' face brightened. "Of course."

"They're not cute together I don't get it." Teddy complained as he, Marcus and Blake were walking to Hogsmeade for the second test. "He's just American, that's the only reason she likes him. I told her not to go to breakfast with him, she's pissed with me but I know what's best for her."

Blake shook his head as he laughed through Teddy's complaints. "Leave her alone, Ted. They looked pretty happy at breakfast." Teddy still didn't appreciate this. "You're like Gabby's dad." He muttered as he spotted Gabby talking to Jolene among their fellow students, they were all crowding around Madam Puddifoots. "Oh Merlin, not her too."

Gabby spotted the three boys and waved them over, she was smiling and laughing with Jolene despite claiming she didn't like her mere days ago. Blake walked over and threw his arm round her shoulder. "What are you doing?" He gritted his teeth and murmured in her ear.

"She's actually really nice." Gabby replied.

"You're strange."
