Lucas woke early. It wasn't every day you were about to go and do what he was about to go and do. He got dressed; his lucky jumper, ripped trousers and odd socks before making his way down to the common room where he spotted Marcus, sitting on a couch and reading.
"What's that?" Lucas asked, making him jump as he finished his decent down the stairs.
Marcus held his book up and smiled. "Don't laugh; Little Women. Beau's making me read it, I'm halfway through."
"I love that book. Female independence." Lucas peered at the cover, it was old and torn. "Is this from the library?" He asked as Marcus gave him the book, Lucas could see it was ripped and worn.
"No," Marcus said. "Beau's mum stole it from the library here when she was in her second year, it's been hers ever since."
Lucas gave the book back and the two of them stood up, grabbed their coats and headed for the door. Before leaving, Lucas stopped Marcus. "Do you really think Teddy hates me that much?"
Marcus sighed. "Well, Teddy has never liked boys talking to Beau, he's like her brother. But something is definitely up with him so I wouldn't worry about him too much." He explained, placing a hand on Lucas' shoulder.
The portrait slid open, revealing Beau and Professor McGonagall. "Oooh, bromance?" Beau commented.
"Shove it." They both said at the same time as they walk out of the portrait.

"Right, so you all understand?" McGonagall confirmed with Lucas and Beau who were stood in front of her, in the middle of the Forbidden Forest, thinking that what they were about to do was crazy and they didn't feel like it was natural.
"So... all we have to do is go and find a dead animal, and bring it back to life?" Beau specified.
"Yes, exactly."
"Right, okay, how?" Lucas asked again.
"You'll know when you get there." McGonagall told them, the two teenagers exchanged glances. "No more hesitation, go!" Beau panicked and ran off into the forest, Lucas ran the other way leaving Marcus stood with McGonagall.
Marcus awkwardly glanced over at McGonagall, rocking back and forth slightly and she cleared her throat. "Your transfiguration homework was late again last week, Mr Parley."
Marcus swallowed. "Sorry, Professor, it won't happen again."
Meanwhile Beau had stopped running. She didn't fully understand anything going on at the minute. She'd always thought she was very normal, nothing exciting ever happened to her and she went through life with her head down. Beau sighed and slumped down next to a large tree, resting her head back against the trunk. The forest was actually pretty calming, Beau was completely alone and she felt like she could finally breath. Then she began to think...
Her friends had never been this weird with her before, she'd never had to socialise with anyone else because she had them. But then, come to think of it, none of this had happened before Lucas and Jolene, and the obscurus. She didn't want to think about it like that and she didn't have to because just as she was trying to shake the thought away from her head, an injured deer fell through the bushes in front of her.
"Merlin!" Beau jumped up quickly and watched as it stumbled towards her, before falling at her feet. Beau leant down cautiously and pressed her hand against the deer's neck, it was dead.
She panicked.
<FLASHBACK>
Beau was eleven years old, she was in the garden with her three siblings, the twins causing trouble as usual and Sirius running round after them. It was the summer before her first year at Hogwarts.
"Teddy! That's not fair." She cried as Teddy bashed his shoulder into hers.
Teddy laughed. "Just think about it, Beau, in a month we won't live here anymore." He ran back into the house to help her mum after that comment and he just left her, staring at the back of their house.
She would miss it all so much, her siblings, her parents, everything.
"Beau, my dear, what's wrong?" Her Grandma, Molly, was watching her from her bench at the back of the garden.
"Nothing, Grandma, it's okay." Beau turned around to see a bird laying on the ground in front of her. She knelt down and saw that it'd fallen from a nest, it was dead.
"Mum, do you want some tea?" Fred joined his mother on the bench and followed her gaze to Beau.
"Oh no," Beau whispered to herself. She scooped the bird up in her hands and closed her eyes, as she did so, the bird flapped its wings against her hands and she let go, stepping back in shock.
Molly only looked up at Fred and smiled, she knew full well this Weasley would be the first to not be sorted into Gryffindor, she was much more clever than that.
<FLASHBACK END>
Beau fell back onto the forest floor, breathing heavily in and out.
"Molly told me." Professor McGonagall was standing over her with Marcus who'd ran over to Beau and was helping her up.
Beau thanked him as she sat up. "I can't do it."
"If you did it then, you can do it now." McGonagall said clearly and plainly as she turned to walk away. "I'll find Lucas."
She left and Beau rested her head against Marcus's shoulder, Lucas watching from behind the large tree, his heart dropping as he knew what was to come.

Marcus and Beau were sat in the Great Hall eating their dinner. Beau didn't feel hungry though, she was tired. Marcus would look up every few seconds just to check on her, but when he looked up the sixteenth time, he spotted Gabrielle and Blake coming towards them. "Beau." he cleared his throat.
Beau turned around to see the two of them standing in front of her. "Jolene is poison." Gabby spoke first, leaning down to her.
"What do you mean?" Beau was too exhausted to argue with them.
Blake sat down next to her. "She's done something to Teddy, he follows her around like a robot."
"It's freaky." Gabby agreed.
Marcus suddenly stood up. "Library, now." Marcus picked up his stuff and his Little Women book which Blake conveniently spotted as he too, got to his feet.
"Little Women, Marcus, really?"
