I sit and wonder what I ever did wrong
But then I remember you hated sad songs
You hated all the sadness
You said it only led to madness
But when I think of what could have been
I remember you were nothing but full of sin
I should have stopped right there
But all you did was sit me down in a chair
You begged and pleaded
And I watched and heeded
I let you back into my heart
And you did nothing but tear it apart

I sometimes think my fool tendencies
Are nothing but your conquered rendencies
I tried to add to my book
But instead you took and took
I wrote of love and happiness
Love that didn't include sappiness
I was all about the beautiful calm sadness
And you were all about the harsh articulate madness
I tried my best
But you rendered the rest
