"Hey, Parker, did you talk to Spider-Man?" Jess asked when she spotter the boy and his friend in the kitchen of the Toomes house.

She had been at the party for at least a half hour before the pair had shown up and she had to wait until Liz had left them alone before she could approach.

Peter Parker twitched slightly when she spoke and she noticed his hands fidgeting at his sides. A closer listen with her spidey-senses revealed that his heart was pounding in his chest, a fact Jess chalked up to his obvious crush on Liz.

Peter sighed quietly, not even turning to face her when he responded.

"Yeah, yeah Spider-Man will be here." He said softly, sounding resigned and perhaps stressed? Jess couldn't tell.

"What?" She forced out, confused by his statement. "Oh, Christ, Parker, I could not give a flying fuck where Spider-Man goes tonight as long as he's a Delmar's at ten."

It was then that Peter turned his full attention to her and startled slightly when he realized it wasn't just another classmate hoping to meet Spider-Man, it was Jessica Stark.

"Oh- shit, right, yeah. Sorry." Peter fumbled his words. "Y-yeah he'll be there."

Jess just nodded silently before grabbing a slice of pizza off the kitchen island and walking into the living room where the party was in full swing. She had planned to linger along the wall and enjoy her pizza but before she knew what was happening Flash Thompson had spotted her and pushed his way through the crowd to meet her, all while yelling her name as if she were a celebrity. Her classmate barely even greeted her before he was dragging her back through the crowd to the far side of the living room.

Jessica wasn't sure how to feel about Flash. She had always had trouble reading people's intentions which made it difficult to know if people liked her for who she was or just for her last name. For that reason she isolated herself, including herself with her peers but not enough to form strong bonds. There was really only one person at Midtown she considered a friend.

"MJ!" Jess gasped happily when Flash had released her from his grip and she was able to take in her surroundings. "I didn't think you'd be here!"

"Free food." MJ shrugged apathetically, taking a sip out of her red solo cup.

Jess quirked her brow quizzically at the action, not having taken the girl as one to participate in underage drinking.

"Cream soda." MJ answered her questioning look with a small smirk before changing the subject. "Do you think Parker will come through?"

"What?" Jess asked, caught off guard.

"The whole Spider-Man thing." Her friend offered as an explanation, gesturing behind her towards where Peter and Ned still stood in the kitchen.

"Oh, I dunno. Guess we'll have to wait and see." Jess shrugged.

"Hey, Penis Parker!" Flash yelled rather than just take part in the discussion. "When's your friend Spider-Man coming?"

Peter's face went white as a sheet and Jess could hear his heart rate speed up as he turned away from the living room.

"Now or never." Jess heard him say to Ned before walking off.

She narrowed her eyes suspiciously at the space that Peter Parker had previously occupied, something weird was going on.

She was drawn back into the conversation by the sounds of Michelle admonishing Flash for being an asshole.

"Do you have to be a dickhead one hundred percent of the time?" She asked, eyes narrowed in disdain.

"Do you have to be a total buzzkill one hundred percent of the time?" Flash shot back snidely.
