"Jessica Maria Stark you have a lot of explaining to do."

Shit.

Options for why her dad might be mad at her this time raced through Jess's head as she stopped in the middle of the hallway. Did he find out about her sneaking into his lab in the middle of the night? Or was it the take out she had FRIDAY order on her dad's card while she was working in the lab in the middle of the night? Maybe he had finally found out about the parts she had been taking from him for months.

"Explain what?" She asked, doing her best to sound and look innocent as she turned around to face her father.

Tony Stark looked furious as he stared down at the tablet in his hands.

"Explain this." He said, thrusting the tablet into her hands.

Rather than a log of lab use or a credit card report she was shocked to find a video playing on the screen. A video of her. Well, more accurately it was a video of Spider-Woman.

Double shit.

"Aren't you supposed to be in Germany? Why are you here showing me videos of Spider-Man?" Jess scoffed, trying to throw off her dad's suspicions.

She had worked so hard to remain inconspicuous, even designing her suit to look like Spider-Man's and using a voice modulator so that she wouldn't be recognized. Most of the city didn't even know there were two spider-humans, let alone that one was a girl, her boyish figure took care of that.

"See, that's what I thought too. Until I had a conversation with the actual Spider-Man who made a pretty compelling argument that it wasn't him." Tony said slowly, looking intently for cracks in his daughter's facade.

"Two Spider-Mans? That's crazy." Jess gulped, trying her hardest to prevent the inevitable discovery of her superhero persona.

"Actually, one Spider-Man, one Spider-Woman."

"Wow." She tried to sound impressed but sounded more dull and scared.

"So I had Friday run figure recognition scans to see if she could find this elusive Spider-Woman because I thought maybe I could recruit her for my team, and Friday found a perfect match." Tony explained, his gaze growing sterner.

"Cool!" Jess exclaimed, upping her game of denial in a last-ditch effort to avoid exposure. "Is she here? Can I meet her?"

"Unfortunately, she's grounded for the rest of her life." Tony said flatly.

Motherfucker.

"Wow, that really sucks for her." Jess said, turning to walk away. "I have some homework to attend to, good luck in Germany. Love y-"

"Not so fast, missy." Tony grabbed her arm before she could walk away. "I can't believe you kept this from me."

"I knew you'd never let me actually go out in the field! You've always been so protective!" She huffed, throwing her arms into the air. "I can help people dad, I do help people. And- and I'll do it with or without your permission." She said stubbornly, crossing her arms over her chest.

"You'll do it with my permission and with my protection. You're the most important thing in my life Jess, I won't lose you to some low-life out on the streets." Tony said, his gaze softening as he looked down at his daughter.

"Really? That's great! Thank you!" Jess exclaimed, jumping into her father's arms. "Does this mean I can go to Germany?"

"Absolutely not. You're still grounded, I know you've been stealing parts from my lab to make your little suit." Tony said, his stern father facade returning. His eyes told a different story however, showing how proud he was of his daughter.
