We cleaned up the campsite and threw everything onto Mikalina's back. Will jumped on top of her, and I took the walking route. Jharonku slithered up onto Will's leg, before slithering all the way up Mikalina's back.

I gazed up at the sun, and noticed that the sun was barely over the treetops, and we had a long way to go. I motioned to William that he is to head off ahead of me. He nodded slowly.

I followed Will as he trampled through the forest, making a loud rucus as we went.

We came upon a bunch of trees, so I slowed down. "Hey William, I am going to climb the trees and scout ahead. Wait for me to giive you the bird call to tell you we are in the clear. Is that okay?"

He nodded and stopped Mikalina from traveling any further. "Good luck, but give me a warning call if there is a battle, and I will be stealthy and kill them."

"Yeah right. Mikalina will make so much noise, that even an old elder could hear her from far away." I muttered under my breath. I glanced around looking for a tall yet easy tree to climb. I came upon a gnarly old tree with natural knotches and dips in the trunk. I took my bow and slung it over my free shoulder. As gracefully and quickly as a squirel I climbed up the trunk. I reached a thick branch with tons of leaves to shelter me. I crouched low to stay hidden, while reaching for a branch that was straight above me. I grasped the rough branch, in my hands and I stood up slowly, keeping my balance. I walked across the branch towards another tree on a path towards the other thick growing trees. I allowed myself to relax as I reached the end of the branch. It started to wobble under my weight. I turned my body sideways, and I bounced on the branch. I jumped up onto the branch above me and threw my leg over it to hand on. I leaned to far over and I almost fell straight off. I squeezed with my muscles and hung on as tightly as I could. I pulled myself back up onto the branch. I reached at the three branches that were intertwined together. The branches were barely above me. my shaky arms grasped them and I pulled myself up again into a crouch. I swung over to a branch that was much thicker and stronger than the current one.

The branches thinned out and I ran crookedly across the branch. I traded off between different branches and swapped to a different tree. The branch was growing even thicker towards the trunk. I rustled the leaves and crawled up the tree. Then I worked over towards a sound of some voices were talking.

I crawled out onto the branch and traveled towards the ever growing voices. The leaves were covering the view of the people. I worked my way silently and swiftly through the leaves. I took my bow off of my shoulder.

I held myself up onto the branch using my legs criss-crossed. I worked my way through the trees. I took an arrow and placed it gently on my bow. The voices grew closer as they walked towards me, so I looked straight down and tried to get a clear shot through the thick branches. A few men and women passed under the tree. I aimed quickly and released my grip. The arrow flew through the air, straight towards a bigger male. It sliced his leg, and got stuck in his ankle.

I heard him let out a growl in pain. His companions looked up into the tree. Reacting quickly, I let out the war call to William. Their eyes squinted at the tangled branches . I held still, as thier search was going to end in vain. I was going to make sure of that. I reached my hand back, and winced in pain as a small jutting twig cut through my skin. I gritted my teeth, and pulled my hand back up to to my face. I wiped away the scarlet red blood that started to gather on my cut. I gently wiped off the blood, and studied the cut. It was not very deep, and I sighed in relief that it wasnt giong to cause me to much pain. My enemies huddled below me, whispering and pointing around the branches that were far away from me.

Good, they won't notice me until it's to late... I thought to myself.

I took another arrow and aimed. I was going to kill another one of them, before William finished them off. I leaned forward, ready to recieve a better shot. Luckily they still couldn't find me. I aimed at a girls stomach, and I pulled back the tightening string. I released it, and the feathers brushed my arm. I watched the girl scream, before clenching her stomach.

A painful spasm ran through her body as she pulled the arrow out. I could just barely see the blood dripping from her mouth.

"Avenge me..." She gasped for a breatth, and hacked up more blood. "Ple..." Her voice cracked and she fell to the ground, lifeless.

The bushes rustled as four animals lept out of them. An anaconda, a lynx, a white tiger, and that panther that attacked us earlier that week.

Where's that nasty zebra, I thought to myself..

My attention refocused as the lynx sniffed at the air. I held my breath, hoping it wouldn't catch my scent. I grew even more worried though, when the lynx started stalking in the direction of William. I let out a trill warning call, hoping William would escape.

As if to answer, I heard the breeeaking of twigs, the crackle of leaves, and the unmistakable bellow from Mikalina. A large grayish-brown blur pounded into view.

The lynx turned tail and fled, running as quickly as it could. A small snake came into veiw too, and I realized Jharonku was joining the battle.

I watched intensly, as the three of them flew into battle.

The lynx kept running and never looked back.

Mikalina opened her gaping jaws and struck the shortest male. Chunks of flesh flew this way and that, followed by beadlets of blood. She kept runnning, and the white tiger lept over her head, scoring its claws across Mikalina's back. The tiger then lept again and bit down on her hind leg.

The tiger held on for a little to long, and Mikalina spun around in circles. The tiger flew flew around, barely off of the ground. Its body twisted and turned as its feet hit the ground. It released its grip, and hit the ground hard. The white tiger lay there motionless, other than the small rise and fall of its flanks.

I took a look over at Will, and found him fighting against a female who also had a sword. Her left arm had a long wound, and Will was a mess of blood, mud, and sweat. He had a slight limp, but nothing serious.

I used my squirrel like abilities again, as I lept towards the branches below. I carefully kept my balance.

As I reached the branch closest to the ground, I looked at the battle one last time. Jharonku was battling against the anaconda, while Mikalina chased off the bloody, injured panther.

I jumped down, landing with a thud. I lost my breat, and I fought to get it back. I coughed and spluttered a little bit, but I knew I would be fine. I slowly pushed myself into the upright position.

I heard someone clapping, and I instictivally turned and stood up, bow and arrow in hand.

"Good fight you all put up there."

A smile grew on my face and tears flooded my eyes.

She was here, and she was alive.
