"Ziyraa! Your here! Your alive?" I dropped my weapons and raced to her with open arms. "Look at you!" I hugged her tightly, happy that she was really here and alive. I gently relaxed, but I still held onto her. "How did you escape from those kidknappers? We...I... I missed you." I stammered out before starting to cry into her shoulder. My muffled cries could barely be heard.
" Hey, it's okay. I killed them both, while Royale killed their partners. I traveled back here to find all of us in a war." I pulled back to look at her face to prove she had a fight, she had a new scar from her right ear to her bottom of the chin. She continued on, "I traveled to your tree, to find what was inside." She took a deep breath, before adding, " I'm so sorry Sabrina." She wiped away my tears, as her eyes started to water.
A small yip brought my attention to Royale who walked up next to us. He yipped me another greeting, before jumping up and planting a lick onto my chin.
I rubbed his forehead, before turning back to Ziyraa. "Hey, I want you to meet my new ally. Oh, and Jharonku is here too." I turned to William, who was walking towards us.
"Hello, I'm William. I am from the Tribe of Falling Stones. And you are?"
"My name is Ziyraa from the Tribe of Towering Trees." Ziyraa reached out a hand, and William tentively shook it.
I grinned at thier ackwardness. "Come on, both of you. We need to keep moving. We can talk later."
I watched as Mikalina stumbled towards us. Royale snarled and bared his teeth at her. His tail puffed up, and his fur stood on end.
"Royale! Stop..." Ziyraa exclaimed pointing at the growling fox.
He whimpered, flattening his ears. His tail shied between his legs, and he submissevly bowed down to her in understanding. Jharonku slithered next to Royale, and rubbed up to him, calming him down a little bit.
I looked closely at Royale, noticing his shiny coat, glistening a bright cherry red on his head. The tips of his ears were as black as night. Royale's tail was tinged grey and white.
Royale licked Jharonku's head.
We started walking to the thining of trees. I was hoping that an open plain would be there. "Are there any injuries?"
"I have a small cut under my knee. So, do we have any marigold leaves to dress my wound? The blood has stopped dripping, but it might get infected."
"No, but we should look for a water source." I answered bleakly. "Come on, I think we can find a water source up ahead." We trudged along, hoping to find shelter, food, and some more water.
********************
The whoosh of a raging waterfall, slowly grew louder. "Come on!" I shouted. "I can hear the waterfall from here. We must be getting close. William reached into Mikalina's bags, and took out one small cup, still filled with water while the several others were all empty.
"Lets hurry then, before the sun sets."
Ziyraa nodded in agreement. I noticed she was really shy around William.
Probably doesn't trust him, I thought to myself.
Ziyraa motioned for us to stop, and she pulled a long dagger out of her holder. Its unique golden designs meant that it was the one we made together. The one we were going to kill Jasmine's killer with.
Ziyraa aimed carefully and she threw the dagger sideways. It hit the racoon, slicing it open. Ziyraa brightened up. "Come on, lets find this waterfall quickly so we can eat."
I nodded in agreement as my empty stomach growled in hunger. I was used to hunger, especially now that the time of no leaves is coming. Ziyraa picked up the nasty vermin by the tail and threw the limp body onto Milalina's full back.
Together we raced off again, the rumbling growing closer with each step we took.
As we reached a small river, I demanded that William washed his cut in the ice cold water. He winced in pain at first but it quickly eased. I took a look at it, and declared it looked fine to travel on, so we continued on our way.
********************
All I can say is WOW! The magnificent waterfall seemed to go on forever, and the mist flew into my face, thankfully cooling it down. I opened my parched mouth, and enjoyed the blan taste of water. I swallowed as the water collected in my mouth. The tumbling water caught the last bit of setting sun, shining a beautiful array of colors. I closed my eyes, taling it in, and keeping it there.
I reopened my eyes, when William pointed to behind the waterfall. "Look, there is a small cave, big enough for us to sleep here for the night."
I agreed, yet again, yawning. "I am really pooped out. Do you both mind if I take a nap. As long as you wake me for the food. Don't worry though, I will wake up extra early to cook something then." I pleaded to them, and they both just laughed.
"Sure," Ziyraa told me understandingly. William nodded his head in agreement.
"Thank you, both of you."
With that I lay in the back corner where wetness had not stained the floor, and I closed my eyes. I let the darkness take over.
