Chapter 1: Changes

I watch the clock closely and finally the minute hands moves. Two more minutes until I can finally head out. I zip my coat on and my little sister comes to me.

"Is Mike and mommy at work?" My little sister, Hailey, asks. Mike is our father, he wants us to call him by his name though. It gives him power as a pack leader I guess.

"Yeah." I reply and she nods, walking back to her room. I run out of my room and make sure to close my door on the way out. Then I run outside and there out my driveway stands my friend Cassidy waiting for me.

"Are you ready?" She asks me. I nods and we run out my house and start to run out into the forest. We start to run faster and faster but I don't know if the transformation will work. We stop at the top at a hill and just look at each other.

"You ready?" She asks. To be honest, I'm not even sure if I can do this. Without my parents to see this I don't know.

"Yeah." I say and nod a little.

"Good." We watch as the last dark cloud vanish and the full moon reflects on the hill. I don't know how this will go.

I fall into my knees and so does Cassidy. Slowly, we turn into wolves. I don't know how I look like but Cassidy looks beautiful. She has this brown and white pattern coat as fur.

We look around and we figure this must be it. I start to walk around and sniff everything. Cassidy just sits there and scratches her ear. I can't stay here for long, I need to babysit Hailey.

I look at Cassidy and bark a little to know we should go. She looks up at me and runs to me. We can't get seen in any ways...

We run pass the trees and pass everything else. I feel so free and strong.

Cassidy howls a little for fun and so do I. The full moon is out. We sneak into my house's driveway and entered the house.

I transform back into a human and changed into my clothes.

"Aren't you gonna transform?" I ask Cassidy. She skips over to a mirror and sits down.

"Guess not." I pass her and walk upstairs. "Hailey I'm home!" I say. There's no response. She must be playing around with her toys.

Hailey walks behind me but doesn't seem to like the stairs that much. Right, she's claustrophobic. I walk into her room she's on the floor.

"Hailey!" I scream and shake her. She wakes up and her eyes widen.

"Get her!" I hear a whisper behind me. I turn around and a girl stands there. She looks familiar and older than me but I don't know.

I get up quickly and stare at her. Is she a werewolf?

"This is my property, out!" I say. She really looks familiar but I can't quite put my finger on it.

She then runs and vanishes. "Hailey are you okay?" I ask.

"Yeah. She hit me and told me to stay down." Hailey says. She has a bruise on her head.

"Don't worry it'll heal before Mom and Mike come home." I say. She nods and hugs me.

Cassidy comes in transformed into a human again. "Are you okay?" She asks.

"Yeah." I say and just think.

"You did what?" Mom screams from across the room.

"I had to transform, Mom. If I didn't I would be stuck like a human for another seven years.'' I explain.

"A woman came, too. I don't know if she's a werewolf or not but she attacked Hailey and left when I told her to." I say.

Mom and Mike look at each other and exchange a look.
