Katsuki rubbed his fingers gingerly against his boyfriend's arm. Eijiro was fast still asleep. The warmth from the sun rays are what woke Katsuki, but Eijiro was a heavy sleeper. Katsuki decided to let the red head sleep; he did work really hard the previous day.

Katsuki would have gotten out of the bed, but he really didn't feel like moving. He didn't have anything better to do, so he laid down with Eijiro. He looked at his sleeping partner; he looked so quiet and peaceful. Eijiro was never this quiet, only when he was asleep.

Katsuki loved Eijiro, but he couldn't protect him from everything. Eijiro had gotten into an accident three years ago. Katsuki was at a training facility in America. He didn't even hear about the accident until two weeks after it happened. Katsuki was so worried, that he vowed to not leave Eijiro alone in the country again. Thankfully, the accident wasn't fatal, but it left some pretty nasty scars. Katsuki stills sees these scars as his failure to be there for Eijiro. He still wonders what could have happened if he stayed by his boyfriend's side.

He rubbed his soft fingers against Eijiro's tanned skin, thinking about his mistake, until the other finally woke up. The redhead woke up to his boyfriend touching his skin and deep in thought. Eijiro smiled.

"G'morinin' Kat." Katsuki was broken out of his trance and looked to the sleepy redhead. His crimson eyes showed joy. Katsuki just snuggled up closer to Eijiro. Eijiro smiled and hugged him back tightly. They stayed like that for awhile, trapped in each other's embrace.

"I love you Eijiro." Eijiro was surprised at Katsuki's words; Katsuki didn't say 'I love you' unless something was bothering him.

"I love you too love, but what's up?" That's when Eijiro noticed Katsuki's stare. It was even with a scar on his arm. Eijiro understood. "Hey, look at me," He moved Katsuki's chin with his soft touch, "It was never your fault. It really was my fault for being too reckless."

Katsuki nodded, but still held a sad expression. Then he did something unexpected. He placed a soft kiss on the scar he was looking at.

"Katsuki?" Katsuki just hugged Eijiro tighter. Eijiro enjoyed the warmth coming from his usually unsubmissive boyfriend.

"I love you." There it was again. It made Eijiro's heart flutter. Katsuki continued whispering words with his ginger touches, "I just wish that these stupid scars wouldn't be there." Eijiro smiled and Katsuki tried to change the conversation a bit. "But stop smiling so damn much and get your ass out of bed." Eijiro laughed.

"Well, you could have gotten out of bed, Katsuki," Eijiro teased while sitting up and swinging his legs over the bed. Katsuki followed.

"Don't be smart with me." They went back and forth as they made their way to their kitchen. Katsuki started to get the ingredients out for pancakes (i'm so hungry for pancakes rn btw).

It wasn't that Katsuki hated the scars, he couldn't. Whether he liked it or not, the scars were a part of Eijiro. If he really did love every part of Eijiro, which he did, he had to come to terms with the scars. He didn't think of them as disgusting; he didn't think of them as horrible. He just remembers his own mistakes when he sees them. And boy, does he regret those mistakes.

They finished the pancakes, even with Eijiro being more invested in hugging Katsuki every thirty seconds rather than the pancakes, and set up the table. They happily munched on their pancakes, enjoying each other's presence (and some pancakes that I would also very much enjoy). Eijiro held a smile throughout breakfast, but Katsuki knew that there was something wrong.

"Tell me now before you think too much." Eijiro shot a confused glare at a Katsuki.

"Huh?"

"You're going to tell me sooner or later," Katsuki huffed, "so you might as well get it over with." Eijiro's smile changed. It didn't falter, it just changed. It took the form of a much sadder smile.

"Well," he started, "why do you blame yourself so much for these scars? Do they really make you that upset?" His voice faltered a bit, but his smile did not. Eijiro kept his eyes up, searching for Katsuki's answer in his body language. Katsuki sighed, realizing the mess he made.

"Listen hair-for-brains, I love you. A lot okay? Probably more than I should." Eijiro laughed and his happy smile returned for a moment, before changing back to that sad smile, "But those scars just remind me that I wasn't able to protect the one I loved. The sight of them scares me. They scare me, but they scare me into wanting to always protect you. So no, your scars don't make me upset, and maybe, maybe I don't want them to go away. I use your scars as a way to remind myself to always stay by your side. I don't want you to get hurt again because it hurt me." When Katsuki finished, he made eye contact with his redhead and grabbed his hand. He slowly rubbed small circles onto the back of his partner's hand.

Eijiro was smiling like always. You could always tell a lot from Eijiro's smile. His smile was understanding. He knew how Katsuki felt.

They were still discovering stuff about each other. They were still learning. They would learn everything about each other, and then learn something new. Even if it meant opening up old scars.
