Ch. 1 "Pain and Deceit"

October 17th, 2328.

What if I told you I lived in a world where liking the opposite gender was forbidden? Would you be shocked? The year is 2,327 A.D.  I live in the United States, the strongest nation in the world and currently the most peaceful nation in world. I should be happy right? Right? Wrong, our nation's peace is only a direct result of the laws passed regarding who you can have a relationship with.

"Supposedly" studies have shown that having a relationship with the same sex is 67% more healthy than  heterosexual relationships according to a U.S census held in 2,097. Also, homosexual relationships are 71% more likely to go smoothly than heterosexual relationships. Not to mention homosexual relationships are 77% less likely to resort to abuse when something in their lives go wrong. Honestly, even though I'm not allowed to think this I call bullshit on their little studies.

After a couple more decades of research, scientists and researchers alike came to a conclusion in 2,121 that homosexual relationships are indeed less harmful than heterosexual relationships and by banning all heterosexual relationships it would ensure an overall more healthy and peaceful society in the long run.

In 2,122, the law was approved by the president and passed by congress to ban all heterosexual relationships, despite our country's modo freedom and Justice for all. No longer could a man and a woman be in a relationship, it was completely forbidden.

Tens of millions of families were torn apart and destroyed by this act of injustice. They thought what they were doing was justified and right, when really what they were doing was monstrous and barbaric. People who rebelled to the laws passes were more often than not were put into "conversion camps. " Despite, the world's pledge to never repeat the horrors in WW2.

Those who opposed the laws passed by congress were tortured until they gave into the laws or if they still didn't listen after they were tortured then they'd either be put in solitary confinement until they were driven to the brink of insanity and caved in or they were shocked with tasers until they gave up.

Though if those methods didn't work they were shot or killed. Often men and women alike would start secret relationships. Some would get away with it and lived a double life while others were caught and put into camps where they would be tortured or do extreme physical labor. Sometimes they'd even be killed.

My name is Rose Everson, and I'm 17 years of age. You know I'd be fine with this world if only I wasn't straight and persecuted for my feelings. So now I have to hide how I really feel. Otherwise, I would be tortured or killed or sent to the camps.

For now I'll play the part but I'll get my Justice somehow some day... I know I will... I have to... certainly there must be a way. Otherwise, I wouldn't be able to stay sane in this messed up world.

This is my journal a write my accounts and recollections in so that if someone reads it in the future I may be able to help them or enlighten them of these messed up times where you can't be yourself. Atleast, I'd like to think my journal could do that for someone.

I keep it in a safe with a sophisticated code so that NO one in this present day will "ever" know about my dirty little secret.
