Pag-uwi ng bahay ni Tyler ay kinausap sya ng kapatid. "Have you and Ghirard seen each other na?"

 "So, it is you?"

 "So, its me what?" confused na tanong ni Franc.

Paakyat na sana ng kwarto si Tyler pero bumaba ito ng hagdan para harapin ang kapatid. "It's you who told him that i transferred to Marian Academy."

 "Is it my fault that you're hiding yourself to everybody?"

 "I am not hiding!"

 "You we’re gone for a long time. Nobody knows what you did and where you’ve been. And you came back like nothing happened. tell that to the person who cut off communication with everyone he knows."

 "Until when are you gonna grieve like this?"

 Humarap ito ulit sa kapatid and blankly said "I'm not grieving anymore."

"Then join me to dinner tonight.” hamon ng kapatid. “Look, it's just us together and I could use some company every once in a while."

 "Fine." lumakad na ito padabog papuntang dining room.

 Tahimik na kumain ang magkapatid. Tahimik sila most of the time while they were eating maliban na lang sa awkward na tanungan nila na 'how's school' and 'how's business' na pareho lang nilang sinagot na "it's okay."

 "Join me in the veranda after this and let's have some drink." sabi ni Franc.

 "let me change my clothes first." sabi naman ni Tyler na naka-uniform pa din.

 Pagkatapos magbihis ni Tyler ay nasa Veranda na ang kapatid at sinimulan ng uminom ng hard liquor. Ng makita ang kapatid ay iniabutan ito ng baso na may alak na. Tatanggi sana si tyler pero sinabi nito na..

 "You and I both know na mas malakas ka pang uminom kesa akin."

 "Point taken." inabot nito ang alak at sinumulan ng inumin."

 "You've changed a lot Tyler, you're not who you used to be."

 "People change. Ikaw din naman Franc." I'm not use to calling him Kuya.

 "That's because i have to. For us."

 Silence. Humarap si Franc sa kapatid at tsaka nagsalita.

 "Tyler you are young and is still in school. I don't have that privilege anymore. Take advantage of it. Tumingin lang sa malayo si Tyler. "I know it's hard to lose both parents. It's hard for me to lose dad too."

 "You still have a mom."

 "She's yours too. And we won't let anything happen to you. This is exactly why I’m doing everything i can with dad's business. Ayokong masayang ang mga pinaghirapan nya para sa atin."

 Silence.

 "You are young. Enjoy it while it last. Wag mo problemahin ang mga bagay na dapat kaming matatanda ang umiintindi. Live life to the fullest just like what dad did. Wag mo ikulong ang sarili mo and don't cut yourself out to the rest of the world. Dad wouldn't want to see you like that." ipinatong nito ang kamay sa balikat ng kapatid at bumuntong-hininga. 

Inilapag nito ang baso sa lamesa at lumakad palayo sa kapatid. Naiwan si tyler na nag-iisa. Nag-iisip sya at tinanong ang sarili. "where was I this past year?"
