The Threll greeted her with a eerie silence that seemed all consuming. Occasional rustling of the undergrowth and harsh screeches overhead filled Kashara with unease. She tugged her bag higher over her shoulder and began to wade through the dense undergrowth. She had to set up her tent and build a fire soon to keep away nasty insects and animals. Preferably near a water place so she didn't die of thirst.

Kashara stumbled around in the forest searching for a water source. She could use a water charm but any magic could lead to her detection - and the last thing she wanted was to be near a fuming mad and vengeful Fallon Eagus. She would face the Doame any day than that.

Suddenly there was a loud cacophony of noises. Screeches, cries and growls exploded from quite a distance away. The noise seemed to get closer and closer. It was as if an whole horde of animals were running towards her.  Kashara, frightened out of her wits, began running in earnest now.

Viciously shoving away overgrown plants she sprinted away fron the noise. Faster and faster the noise seemed to travel, right until it was barely nipping her heels. Kashara felt like she was being engulfed by the storm of cries and struggled to move forward.

The noise stopped abruptly. The Threll became silent. The silence had an odd ring to it. The kind that filled up your ears and made you deaf.  It was then that Kashara realised the amount of noise she was making by running. She came to a stop and turned around in the direction where the noise had came from, uneasy with the sudden silence. Something bad was coming.

Slowly, very slowly the plants infront of Kashara began rustling and swaying as if a unseen breeze was moving it. Kashara instinctively took a step back as the rustling intensified. A inhumane growl resounded from behind the rustling, echoing in the forest. Just as Kashara began to turn away the plants parted.

A huge beast leaped out landing nearly on top of Kashara. It was a nine feet tall (270 cm) creature that looked like a cross between a mole and a saber tooth tiger. It's shimmering black skin lightly glowed green when the sunlight that dappled through the canopy shone on it. It regarded Kashara with its blood red eyes and gave another victory screech. The towering height stood menacingly infront of Kashara, deep throat growls emanating from its massive jaws.

"Doame..." Kashara gasped, shocked that the rumours weren't false. Just as the beast started to move, Kashara began sprinting away from it. She could hear it following her. Its large jaws snapping and drooling as it bounded behind her.

It let out an loud growl and leapt towards her. Kashara turned around and knew that she couldn't outrun it. The leap was too big. Even as she ran, it would catch her.

She failed to see that there was a large stream in her path and slipped when her feet fell into the water. Ironically as just as Kashara slipped the Doame sailed past her onto the opposite shore of the stream.

Thwarted once, the Doame screeched and fumed and stalked toward the fallen prey. Kashara was unable to get up. The force of the water thundering above and around her overwhelmed her. Amidst all the water spraying on her, she could distinctly feel the thick liquidy substance that dropped on the palm shielding her face.

The Doame was poised above her, growling at her, its gaping jaws letting drool fall on her palm.  It reared its head back, ready to deliver the killing blow as Kashara lowered her hand.

Before its lethal and menacing jaws could touch her trembling neck, her hand rose up as if to protect her. Kashara steeled herself for the bite, but she only heard the enraged scream of the Doame and sudden whimpering.

She opened her eyes to find a pulsing translucent dome of some sort sepeprating her from the beast. Apparently she had conjured a shield to stop the Doame. Doame launched itself at the shield trying to get to her.

The shield shook ominiously, spluttering and vibrating with the force of the Doame's blows. However the shield stood, and Doame jumped bak as if shocked. Kashara sighed in relief as she realised the Doame couldn't penetrate the shield without intense pain and resistance.

Apparently that was enough, for the Doame retreated to a distance and continued to watch her. She wondered why she hadn't done this earlier.

"Jiggling frog bottoms!" She swore. She had used magic and now the Mages in the Institution might be dytiporting here this very instance. She had to leave. Now. She quickly stood up and tried to shake off water.

Then she realised she had dropped her shield as the Doame began advancing towards her. She quickly brought it up again. Since she had to use magic anyway, she cast another drying charm on her clothes and bag and grabbed it.

She could still hide if the mages weren't scrying for her location currently. As long as she wasn't caught, it wasn't over.

However a distinctive noise reached her ears.  Dytiporting. The mages were here.

Kashara swore loudly and proceeded to run from the Mages. She could hear them behind her. She smirked. They were landing themselves right into the Doame's claws really. She hoped it would hold them off.

Suddenly there was a bright flare of fire infront of her. A sudden unexplainable burst of fire that was bigger than her and dark blue - almost black in colour - this was not good. The fire burned steadily, its tongues dancing in the wind.

Then very slowly, as if the fire  itself metamorphosed into it, a human leg- a man's leg extended out from the heart of the fire. It was as if the leg had always been there, waiting to appear but Kashara could have sworn she never noticed it.

The flames seemed to dance around the leg yet never touched it. Likewise, two hands, another leg and a torso emerged as if they were born from the flame itself. Finally a face appeared- formed by the intense dark flames.

Fallon Eagus straightened and gave Kashara a smirk and raised a single eyebrow. "Going somewhere Kashara? "

Kashara knew she should have been more worried about the fact that there was an elemental wizard here to capture her or the increasingly loud growling noises behind her. She should have been more concerned about the fact that there was an dyitiporting shield stopping her from escaping. However even for all her efforts, Kashara couldn't stop herself from noticing the unique lilting speech he spoke her name and the strange fluttering it caused.

She had so many things to worry about but she only cared for the way her name sounded on his lips. Nothing else seemed to matter.

As her heart beat furiously and her cheeks reddened, she scrambled to regain whatever dignity she had left."Get out of my way Fallon!" She said while trying to find a way to escape.

Fallon just smirked more at that and began to walk closer to her, still partially enshrouded in flames. The flames twirled around him like vines around a tree,  albeit in an infinitely sexier and classier way - atleast according to Kashara.

Though her mind was spacing out heavily, she shot a few spells at Fallon. However his flames always interceded and absorbed her spells and seemed to grow even more powerful. Fallon was now an barely a foot away and Kashara was running out of options. It was apparent he would catch her if she did nothing else.

Would that be so bad? A sneaky voice asked her. Where the heck had that come from? She immediately quelled the rebellious thought and atacked him with more vigour.

Freezing charms. Shield charms. Blinding charms. Everything. His flames broke through everything.

Just as she was in the midst of sending a particularly nasty hex Fallon had come even closer and suddenly grabbed her hand. Flames danced across his hand and advanced towards her. She closed her eyes and prepared herself for the inevitable sting of the flame and tried to ignore the small curious stings his hand caused on her wrist. He must be using a weird hex to mess with her.

The flames extended towards her, and twisted across her wrist but they didn't burn. Strangely, they were rather cooling to touch and she stared transfixed at the unique homogenous patterns of the fire.

She raised her eyes to Fallon's, her amazement and wonder reflected on her face. Fallon seemed to be  transfixed on something as well and drank up her expression hungrily. In the midst of the forest, with growls of beasts and battlecrys of mages, in a most unlikely situation, two people were lost- not in the forest, but in themselves.
