[ at lunch ]
"He loves me," Ten sighs, dropping his tray of food on the table. "He loves me not."
Lucas shakes his head, glancing at his friend who was hopelessly in love with someone who probably didn't know his existence. The thing was, Ten's been beating himself up way too much ever since he couldn't obtain Hendery's digits. "Bro, it's just a number. No need to cry about it."
Ten sobs, gripping his fork as he glares towards Lucas. "I'm not crying. My eyes are just sweating! He continues, emphasizing that it's just allergies. "How can you say that? I thought you were on my side?"
Clearly, his friend heard wrong. Lucas never takes any sides. The only side he belongs to is the side that gets him in the least amount of trouble. Unfortunately, this time it was Ten. "Look, I followed you to lunch only because I didn't want to get involved with whatever was going on with Xiaojun."
"Nice to know that I'm the second choice." Ten angrily says as he stuffs his face with a sandwich. Even though he's sad that his love life is in shambles, he still has to eat. "Hey, give me a bite of that."
Lucas pushes his chin in disgust and shakes his head. No way man. He's not going to give him his precious...
"That's my grilled cheese!" Lucas blinks and proceeds to stare at Ten as he devours his lunch. Welp, this was probably the universe reminding him that Ten is never the choice. Ever.

[ After class ]
Xiaojun wasn't the one who would hesitate at all, but he seems to have gotten himself in a bit of trouble. Well, it's not like he didn't see this coming because he was acting extra cocky in front of his teach during class. "U—um could you repeat that? I think I heard wrong."
Shaking his head confidently, Yangyang smirks. How adorable, his student thought he heard wrong. This just in, he definitely heard it.
"Are you sure you want me to repeat what I just said?" Yangyang lowers his voice as he whispers into his ear. "I thought you heard the first time on the phone."
It would be a total lie if Xiaojun wasn't mentally screaming because he did. This was not real. Nope, he got the wrong person. Yeah, it's totally that! "Teach, I think you're mistaken." Xiaojun continues, trailing off as if he's trying to think of some kind of excuse. "How can a student like me have your number in the first place?"
Yangyang didn't sign up to answer Xiaojun's questions, but perhaps he could reward his student for getting this far. Although, it would be more fun to not answer them, but denying it won't do him any good.
"Well, shouldn't you be the one to tell me?" Yangyang grins as he takes off his glasses. It really hurts his pride that his student doesn't remember him at all. Or was that all for pretend? "Do you want me to refresh your memory—
Thankfully for Xiaojun, the universe was definitely on his side this time. A minute too late and things could have gotten complicated. It's a good thing that one of the students just happened to enter the classroom. He's saved!
"Look teach, I see you're busy." Xiaojun awkwardly says as he stumbles away. "Why don't you help the new kid?"
The "new kid" stands near the door in disbelief. Of all the things Xiaojun could have said, he thought he was a new student? Please, he's been in the same classes as him since middle school! Would it kill him to learn his name? It's only three letters. "For the last time, my name is K-U-N."
