it was 1 a.m. when lee jeno looked into renjun's eyes and almost cried.

renjun was right in front of him, glowing softly under the moonlight's gaze on the balcony.

"do you trust me?" jeno spontaneously asked, his eyes making contact with renjun's.

"as much as i trust myself." renjun spoke as he softly stared back.

"how much is that?"

"not that much, jeno." renjun sighs as he looks down at his worn out shoes. he smiles a little as he remembers that most of the adventures he had with those high tops were with the younger.

"oh..." the small hint of disappointment in jeno's voice was loud, and it broke renjun's heart in a way he couldn't quite describe.

"don't take it that way." renjun assured as he stared into jeno's eyes again. what are those? galaxies, lee jeno? fucking nebulas? maybe in one of those universes of yours we're so in love with each other it hurts. (it's this universe, renjun.)

"and which way should i take it?" jeno asked back, his eyes never moving from renjun's gaze. what am i? star struck? get a fucking hold of yourself jeno before you start crying.

"a good way. i don't trust people to begin with, jen. the fact that i trust you at all should speak for itself." renjun smiled lightly as he saw one of the stars in jeno's eyes light up.

how beautiful that boy and his moon eyes are.

"okay..."

"why'd you ask, anyway?" renjun tilts his in curiosity, not really knowing how much the small gesture struck straight through jeno's heart like butterfly wings.

"...do you wanna play a game?" jeno eagerly proposed.

"jen-"

"please?" he persisted.

renjun sighed. he could never say no to jeno and his cosmic eyes and all the stars knew it. "which one?"

"one where we give each other...hypothetical questions and we have to respond with...hypothetical answers." jeno smiled. yes, it was a game a game he had come up with not even a few minutes ago. he likes being spontaneous, renjun hates it when he acts like that.

"really?" renjun's eyebrows furrowed a bit and his lips jutted out in a concerned pout, "i've never heard of that one bef-"

"i'll start." jeno interrupted with a small clap of his hands. "hypothetically asking, if i ran away and never warned you about my departure, where would you go looking for me?"

"hypothetically answering," renjun smiled, "italy, obviously."

jeno's eyes widened in amazement, "why?"

"are you hypothetically asking?" renjun jokingly prompted with a short raise of his eyebrows.

"no" jeno rolled his eyes, "just asking."
