Shortly after his father was freed and everything was cool between him and the others, Varian met you. You had just gotten a position working in the castle to be trained as a lady in waiting. Unfortunately, that meant you had to move away from your family and your childhood home, but your parents were fully supportive of your dreams to work with royalty and sent you off with their best wishes.

After a year of growing to be the best of friends, your feelings began to grow into something more than friendship. You'd fallen in love with the nerdy boy. After a sudden confession, you discovered that he felt the same way about you.

Now, you and Varian have been dating for three years. You successfully obtained the full position of lady in waiting in the castle and assisted Cassandra with princess Rapunzel, while Varian was proudly labelled the royal alchemist of Corona. You both lived together happily in the castle with your friends, and, after getting through the awkward stages in your relationship, you found that your poor Varian just couldn't stick to a proper sleep schedule. There was always some project or assignment that was stealing away his hours of sleep, causing him to over work himself and sleep during the early hours of the day. And when Varian was sleepy, boy, did he ever become clingy.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

You and Varian were with Cassandra and Eugene discussing plans for Rapunzel's surprise birthday party. Varian was snuggled up next to you as you two lounged on the couch in Cassandra's bedroom. You glanced over at him every few minutes only to frown as you saw his eyes drooping shut.

"Did you stay up all night again?" You poked his cheek, causing him to sit up at once. He rubbed his tired eyes before leaning back onto your shoulder with a gentle sigh.

"Not all night. I went to sleep around four in the morning," he mumbled quietly.

"Geez, kid. You gotta get more rest than that. You know Rapunzel isn't gonna care if you finish the whatever-formula a day later than you set," Eugene laughed at your boyfriend's sleepy state.

"The idiot's right," Cass chimed in, "one day wont make a difference."

Varian picked up his arm, only to throw it back down in a 'whatever' motion. You smiled and began to comb your fingers through his nest of messy, black hair. He immediately nuzzled his head into your neck. You planted a kiss to his forehead before whispering, "You need to take care of yourself too, Varian."

A lazy smile stretched onto his lips and he shifted his head slightly to place a kiss on your shoulder. Anything Cassandra and Eugene were saying was totally lost in your mind as you only focused on Varian's adorableness. You continued to run your fingers through his hair and scratch his head as he slowly sunk further into your shoulder. He lowered more and more until his head fell right into your lap. You almost melted at the sight. Varian was such a kind hearted person. He was caring, generous, loyal, and incredibly hard working. You thought he deserved the world. And you were incredibly grateful to have him here, with you, in your arms. You would do anything for his happiness.

"So, I guess that wraps up today's meeting of blondie's surprise party!" Eugene announced with a clap. You were quick to shush him and pointed to the sleeping boy in your lap.

"Oh, come on. (Y/n), really? You really think he'd wake up from that? The kid only slept for three hours last night! Three!"

You rolled your eyes in response. "I guess I should wake him up anyways. So we can get out of your room, Cass," you glanced up at Cassandra, who was already pushing Eugene out the door.

"That would be nice. I was hoping to polish my swords before heading down to train with my dad," she responded with a grin.

You nodded and gently shook Varian's shoulder.

"Varian," you spoke in a gentle tone, much softer and quieter than Eugene's. "Come on. We gotta get up."

He slowly stirred before shaking his head and snuggling further into your lap.

"Too tired to move..." came his muffled response as he pressed his face into your stomach.

"Come on, Varian. We can't stay in Cass's room," you tried to reason. When he still didn't move, you tried to get up, but he was quick to wrap his arms around your middle.

"Nooooooo (Y/n) stayy," he whined like a little kid.

You looked up at Cassandra and shrugged. She only smiled.

"It's okay, you two can stay here. I think I'm gonna go see what Raps is up to," she said before quickly exiting the room.

You signed and looked down at Varian once again. He was curled up onto your lap, trying to fit his whole body in one tiny space. You chuckled and began to play with his hair once again, twirling it around your finger and letting it go repeatedly. Your legs were falling asleep but you couldn't bring yourself to move anymore. Your Varian needed his rest.

You cradled his head in your arms and let out a deep sigh.

"Oh gosh, Varian. You really need to start sleeping properly."

He let out a soft snore and you smiled.

    He deserved so much.
