"Varian! Come on!" You yelled angrily as you yanked his arms forward with all of your strength.

"N-no! You can't make me!" He yelled back. He dug his heels into the floor to stop you from pulling him any further away from his desk.

"Yes, I can!"

"Y/n, please! I just have two more experiments to finish tonight and then I'll go to bed, I swear!"

"Varian, no!! It's already past midnight and you look like you're about to pass out any second!"

You spent a few more moments tugging him towards the exit as hard as you could while he still resisted.

"Ugh, fine," you sighed and let go of his arms, causing him to yelp as he fell backwards and landed on his bottom.

"Fine?" He questioned your statement as he blinked up at you with his curious, blue eyes.

"You win," you scowled while crossing your arms. "I'll just leave you alone to finish your experiments."

"Thank you. I won't take very long, really. Only a couple hours at the most," he grinned as he stood up and brushed himself off, then turned towards his desk full of chemicals so his back was facing (y/n).

Just then, an idea popped into your head and you smirked. You approached him silently and gently reached up to ever so cautiously run your finger up and down the side of his arm while you placed your other hand on his shoulder. He visibly tensed and your smirk widened.

"I guess I'll just have to go to sleep all alone," you sighed sadly. You tenderly dragged your hands around his waist and hooked them in front.

"(Y-y/n?) what are you doing?"

You hummed and embraced him tighter, reaching up to plant a gentle kiss to the back of his neck, then resting your forehead between his shoulder blades.

"Just saying good night. I wish you would come with me," you purred quietly. When he didn't say anything, you frowned and tried again.

"I wanna cuddle you, Var. Make sure you're safe and sound in my arms so I can sleep without worry."

"(Y/n)," he said in a warning tone, his hands placing themselves over your own. You knew he could feel your smile as you pressed you face into his back.

"Whaaat? I just wanna love you!" Your voice was muffled so you turned your head to the side, still hugging him from behind. "I have such a long day tomorrow and I need to get some sleep, but I don't wanna leave you yet."

You heard him sigh and bit your lip. Just one more little push.

"I'll scratch your back if you come sleep with me," you offered, grinning like the Cheshire cat when he immediately turned around and picked you up.

He carried you up to your bedroom while muttering, "Fine. Just this once and this once only. Don't expect me to stick to a healthy sleeping schedule just because you got me to go bed early this one time."

You snickered and pressed a chaste kiss to his forehead as he went on.

You woke to the sound of birds chirping outside your window. You squinted and attempted to open your eyes, but couldn't due to the harsh sunlight beaming down right in your face. You rubbed the sleep from your eyes and yawned, then let out a small squeak as the arm wrapped around your waist pulled you back so your back was pressed firmly against a warm chest.

Varian snaked his other arm around your middle and held you firmly, clutching onto you as if you were a teddy bear. You blushed when you felt his hot breath on the back of your neck, but judging by the steady tempo, you knew he was still asleep.

You placed your hands over his arms and relaxed into his embrace. Your movement caused him to stir. Varian was awake now but didn't open his eyes. He leaned forward and peppered slow kisses to your nape, causing you to grin.

"Mm, G'morning, love."

"G'morning, princess," he replied, voice deep and gravelly from sleep. It caused a shiver to run down your spine. You loved his morning voice.

"Did you have a good sleep?" You smiled, happy that he went to bed early for once.

"Yeah...still tired though," came his muffled response as he nuzzled his face into your neck. You giggled and pushed him away. You began to untangle yourself from his arms and sit up.

"That's good cause- wha!?"

Varian pulled you back down onto the mattress and climbed on top of you. He laid so he was covering your entire body with his own. His face was pressed against your collarbone, while the rest of his limbs were tangled with your own.

'Varian?" You chuckled at his actions but frowned when he didn't move. "Hey, are you alright?"

He looked up at you with sleepy eyes and sent you a little pout.

"I didn't want you to leave yet."

You reached up to run your fingers through his hair as you sighed.

"I don't wanna get up yet either. But I have too," you spoke softly.

"Whyyyyy, (Y/n)," he began to whine. You snickered.

"Because today is a big clean up day in the castle. I have to get up and get an early start if I wanna be done by tonight."

Varian let out an exasperated groan and tightened his grip on you.

"Oh, come on, you baby. You didn't even want to come to bed with me last night. I had to bribe you with back scratches," You jokingly scolded and flicked his forehead. Varian chuckled in response.

"You think I only came because I knew I was gonna get back scratches?" He let out an overly dramatic gasp at your accusation.

"Yes, I do."

"Nonsense! I love my (Y/n). I would do anything for you!"

"Then let me get out of bed," you laughed and pushed his face away when he started to pepper your face with kisses. He pulled away and tapped his chin.

"How about five more minutes?" He offered after a moment of contemplation.

You placed your hands on either side of his face and pulled him closer to plant a kiss to his nose. You giggled at his love struck expression when you pulled away.

"Okay, five more minutes," you agreed. He beamed with delight and cuddled into you once more.

You smiled and held him close.
