Yoru Uchikatsu - One Piece

Devil Fruit/Weapon: He uses two short swords, both of which have red sun keychains. His technique isn't the best since they're usually in flames or his back up at night. He has the Sun-Sun no mi. It gives him great control of fire, but there's a catch. The strength comes and goes with the sun. When the sun is at it's highest his fire is practically unbeatable. At night? Only really good for light or to set something like wood on fire for a campfire.

Attacks: 

Searing slash: Envelops his blade in fire and attacks, either by slashing nearby or sending the attack flying at them depending on distance.

X-Flame: Same as above, but with both swords forming an X.

Fire Barrier: Either sets his arms or swords on fire and starts moving rapidly to make a shield.

Searing Impact: Creates a flame fist/foot/head/whatever and punches or kicks or whatever his opponent.

Fire Canon: Creates a large ball of fire and shoots it at his enemy.

Anything else you think of. 

Physical Appearance: He has spiky white hair that is pulled into a ponytail, ember eyes, and tab skin. He is 5'7 1/2", which he often teases Kane about since he's just a bit taller. He's well built and muscled from years of training to the limit, but still not bulky.

Clothing: He wears a regular sleeveless black shirt, white pants, and brown boots. Often he'll wear a dark bandana around his waist showing a setting/raising sun. 

History: The Uchikatsu pirates were once great and well known, made up mostly of one family line, which is where they got their name - the Uchikatsu. Before the Pirate Era and the time of Gol D. Roger they were a large and well known group in the North Sea. Four generations ago, there ceased to be any Uchikatsu that was a pirate. They settled down on a large country, creating their own little village. Their name just began to fade. Pirate life began to leave them, but at the same time, they still yearned for that old life, and continually searched for the one who would make their name known again.

This came in the form of Yoru when they discovered he had accidentally eaten a Devil Fruit and nearly caught the village on fire. He was from the lower part of the village, and had actually stolen the fruit from a merchant ship. They didn't have much food, and he needed something to eat. It was Summer and extremely hot day, intensifying Yoru's flame and making them go out of control. Once they got the fire out, the village leader called for him and his family. At first he feared he had gotten them in trouble, but then learned the truth - he was the first of many generations to finally be chosen to bring success to the Uchikatsu name. After all, he was the first to ever obtain such a strong power, and they saw it as a blessing saying it was their time again.

Life started to look up, for Yoru and his family. They moved into the better part of town, their every need supplied by the village. The other new addition was Yoru had to train nearly day in and day out. Swords were a favorite of his, which was why he took it up. The best swordsmen in their village trained him, passing on every skill he had. Most of Yoru's life began to involve training, but he was proud of it and would even train his best while he didn't have to. After all, this was for the Uchikatsu, and that was the most important. Their legacy would be reborn no matter what.

When he was thirteen, he set out on his journey to build a crew and make the Uchikatsu name known again. Things didn't look too hot for him, though. He had a lot of failures trying to get from island to island, and at once point his ship crashed. Having eaten a Devil Fruit, he began to drown. Out of nowhere, though, someone suddenly dragged him up. (You can take it from here, but you'll notice this guy and another go along with Kane, butt is not necessary and you can do whatever you want from here) When he came to he was on the RagTag Pirate's ship. At the time Kane was keeping watch, and a fight ensured. The captain (whose name I am still deciding) came in and stopped them, and from there explained he had saved him and even offered him a spot on his crew. At first he declined because he felt they would hold him back. The captain conceded and allowed him to leave, but Yoru was attacked later in the night when he was nearly powerless. The RagTag pirates had been watching him, though, and suddenly Kane appeared, as well as some other members, and saved his butt. Yoru, acting like he was doing it as a form of payment but really just knowing better, joined the RagTag pirates and has been trying to challegen Kane whenever he can seeing as he's the one who saved him.

Family:

Hiashi Uchikatsu - A previously poor man who worked as a carpenter and appreciates hard work and what little he has.

Aiko Uchikatsu - A loving mother who raised her son right. She was a stay-at-home mother who took care of everything in the house.

Eiji Uchikatsu - Yoru's younger brother. He was only five when Yoru left, but Eiji had looked up greatly to his elder brother and used to follow him everywhere and train with him.

Personality: Yoru can come off as extremely arrogant and cocky, though this is mostly because he is trying to prove himself. In fact he is quite insecure and feels incompetent, bearing a lot on his shoulders as the first pirate of the Uchikatsu family in four generations. He came from a lower part of the old Uchikatsu group, so he knows how to appreciate what he has. He hates to be underestimated and gets very fired up in battle. Unless the situation is serious, he seems like a stupid wild kid. Once necessary, he becomes serious and goes into a scary calm state. Behind his cocky exterior he is kind and holds his friends very dearly, doing anything for them. His only problem is despite being a pirate and he can become scary when he's serious, he's a coward. This is something he has yet to admit to himself, but it is fact about him. He's afraid of failure (which was caused from too much pressure) and he crumbles when in the face of someone he truly does not believe he can beat. He will freeze or do something to assure his own survival. Although later he will hate himself greatly for it, when he is in his cowardly state, he just wants to live. This is something he needs to face head on, yet has not yet despite what it caused. 

Likes: Training, sweets, rock skipping, being up high, proving to people the Uchikatsu pirates are great, and sunsets.

Dislikes: Small spaces, those who disrespect his Nakama, those who underestimate him and being underestimated, 

Goals (Or Dreams if you prefer): To have the Uchikatsu name be known again by the world. 

Other: I think his catch phrase would be "Don't underestimate Yoru Uchikatsu!"
