Full Name: Rayne M. Kellar
Aliases (or nicknames): "Sea Searcher" Rayne
Age: 14, but her birthday is soon after she joins, so nearly 15.
Gender: Female
Affiliations: Marines
Justice: Kinda her own. She only does what she believes is right. She never thinks killing is the answer, and will argue with anyone who thinks so. But she will not stand by while someone does something wrong. Especially hates unnecessary pain done to the innocent people.
Sexual Orientation: Straight
Specialty/Position: Archaeologist. Just joined, so maybe petty officer, maybe?
Race: Human
Devil Fruit/Weapon: Her weapons are duel tonfas that can launch small pellets. Usually exploding ones or smoke bombs. To activate this she has to put a certain amount of pressure on the bottom of the tonfa handles. Despite having these weapons, she's also fairly skilled at hand to hand combat. She is quite creative in her fighting style, good at seeing ways to use things to her advantage and quick to adapt.
Attacks - Hasn't completed any yet, though is in the process of doing so. There is only one main attack she is currently attempting to complete.
Smoke Dance - Will launch a smoke bomb at her opponent to completely cover them, then quickly dashes in to land multiple Tonfa attacks. Is having to work on timing, speed, and footing first.
Physical Appearance: She has shoulder length brown hair that she usually has in a pony tail, a single blue streak in part of her bangs that refuse to stay in the ponytail so usually tucked behind her ear, slightly tanned skin, and is 5'4". Due to a training as a child she has a bit of muscle, though not really noticeable unless you get punched in the face by her.
Clothing: She wears a dark blue hooded vest she usually leaves zipped up, white T-shirt underneath that has the symbol for the Marines, and loose beige Capris. She has a small messenger bag she usually takes with her but leaves on the boat full of books and maps.
History: She grew up on a fairly large continent in the West Blue. The city she lived in was called Shihai. It was well known for its fighters and held tournaments there yearly (kinda like in DBZ). But it was also large, so there were those who would often live in poverty. Among them was Rayne and her older sister, Marionette, usually called Marie. They just barely made it by from Marie doing any job she could find. Sadly, though, a lot of the time the Kellars had to revert to stealing to get by. Despite hating this, usually Marie had Rayne do it because she was smaller and could steal more easily.
One of the times she stole, it was from one of the lead fighters of the tournaments. He was well known and liked by many in town. But he nearly chopped off Rayne's head end he found out. Before he could, though, his wife quickly intervened. She convinced him they could use her for something - possibly to do small chores. His wife had always hated to see the street children suffer, and was happy to know she could help one. When Rayne mentioned Marie, the wife was even more thrilled, pointing out they could have doubly the help. Although reluctant, the man finally agreed.
Rayne and Marie soon moved in with the couples after much debate. They found out they were Steven and Teresa Kellar. Although at first the child and teen were treated as nothing more than extra help, Teresa instantly grew attached and saw them like her own. After a failure in her first pregnancy and then damage that made having children impossible, she never thought she'd have a child. Now she had two!
Rayne fell in love with the library the family presented to her, especially a book that spoke about a magical place called Atlantis where it was said to be a Utopia that had sunk centuries ago. A place where everyone was happy – it was a fantasy, yet the thought thrilled her nine year old mind. As well as all the other stories she read. They showed a world she didn't know. Stories of heroes fighting off the bad guys, saving the day when everything went wrong, and always ending happily. It was just thrilling. The thought of being a hero ended withRayne coming across the weapon room once on accident. She grabbed the closest thing to her – the tonfas, weapons she'd seen Steven use every day. Wanting to be like a hero, she tried to play with them. Thinking Steven and Teresa were out for the day, she played like she was the heroine, beating up all the bad guys. When Steven suddenly saw her playing, having come home early, he was stunned. She was doing a fair job for a child, and was good at using acrobatics she'd learned on the streets. If she had been in the child's division of the tournament, she'd at least survive a few rounds.
When he finally made himself known, Rayne nearly took off his head in surprise, accidentally activating the blaster part when she squeezed. Even if she apologized a lot, fearing she was in trouble, Steven was thrilled at the thought of taking someone under his wing to teach. He did just that, teaching Rayne how to actually fight. She was already in love with the thought of fighting, and because of this it was easy. Without meaning to, Steven actually began to see Rayne as his child, just as Teresa had seen them as her children. He even started to give Marionette a chance.
When Rayne was eleven, Steven allowed her to enter the tournament. She did fairly well, actually making it to the semi-finals. She was greatly annoyed with herself, but quickly bounced back and decided she'd just have to do better. After all, during that time, her dream had become to find the lost city of Atlantis. Only the strong could do that, and she would find that place, no matter what. After all, it was a story that had stuck with her through the last few couple years, and Steven had even shared his own interest in the magical land with her. He even supplied her with as many books on the place as he could.
Most of Rayne's life became training, reading, and even doing a bit of her own writing. Their life had previously been hard, and now it was miraculously better. She felt trapped, though, unsure how to leave Shihai to ever fulfill her dream. Her answer came when she was 14 and entering the tournament. A guest marine – Vice Admiral - had come to watch the fight, one of his own crew members entered into the tournament. Rayne didn't realize that he was her own age until she got to the finals for her second time to find she was faced with him. Not realizing who he was even then, she fought at full strength and actually pushed the boy so he actually had to fight. When he did, the battle became mostly one sided, but he had sustained great damage while holding back, which had not happened yet during the entire tournament.
Rayne lost, but she still caught the Vice Admiral's interest. She was young and had much untapped potential. Not only that, but (altered) he'd found out she wanted to see the world. Taking this to his advantage, he came up to her and her "family" after the fight to speak to her. He offered to take her to the Marines, and maybe after she had experience, maybe even the chance to join his crew. To him, she just needed some world experience and then she could make an amazing marine. At first Rayne was iffy, but then he played his ace – with his strength, he could help her find Atlantis. He had overheard someone talking about that being her dream, and he really liked it and wanted to help her fulfill it. Rayne didn't want to leave her family, but they, especially Steven, insisted she follow her dream. They'd be there waiting to congratulate her when she got back, and she could always visit.
In the end, Rayne finally said yes, and from there she was taken to a Marine base to become an actual Marine. Finally, not only was she getting her chance at her dream, but for once, she may actually be a hero.
Personality: Rayne doesn't know too much about the outside world except from books, and likes to see new things because of this. So if anyone is scouting, it would be here. Often when she has nothing to do she'll about underwater, trying to find any type of clue on Atlantis. She is quite passionate about her dream and will argue like crazy if anyone insults it, if not whack them in the head. Rayne has quite a strong spirit and is very, very stubborn. If she sets her mind on something, it will not waver. Rayne has a tendency to daydream often, and is usually either reading or thinking when she isn't able to dive in the sea. She writes her stories occasionally, too, though doesn't really tell anyone because she is highly self conscious about it. Other characteristics Rayne gets from either Steven or storybook heroes. She will never leave someone in need of help and refuses to back down in a fight even if everything is against her. Her sense of justice also greatly comes from story book heroes. She is also a naive and gullible soul, though her instincts from when she lived on the streets tend to help in fights and warn her of extreme dangers. Tends to only be serious if necessary, which will totally shock people because they're used to the happy-go-lucky side of her. When she's serious, though, she can be scary.
Likes: Sea diving, writing, reading, researching ancient civilizations, especially those focused on Atlantis, helping others, taking out bad guys, hanging with her friends, and being in water.
Dislikes: Fire, opponents that use Devil Fruit powers (claims they're big cheaters and sticks her tongues out at them, then blasts them with her tonfas), arguments between friends, anyone who hurts her friends or the innocent, failure, anyone insulting her or someone else's dream, false leads, any damage done to her tonfas since they're her gift from Steven, and anyone who holds back on her during a fight.
Goals: To find Atlantis. Also to possibly write and publish a book.
