Why did I agree to this?

Masamune had been begging me to go skydiving with him for weeks and now I was facing the side door, about to jump. That open door was the entrance to my demise.
Images of everything that could go wrong ran through my mind like a slideshow with the occasional check on my position.
It was Masamune's hand that brought me back to the harsh reality. Only his warm smile gave me the courage to jump out of the plane. I did scream though. My fear of heights won't ever go away.
After a minute, I accepted the fact that I was going to die and spun around in circles.
Hey, if I'm going to die, might as well have fun, right?
I giggle when he grabs my ankle and spins me around to face him.
"Having fun?" He yells and I nod in reply. He grins and points down," pull chute!"
I yank on the string, but nothing happened. Worried, I do it again but still nothing. Masamune gave it a go, but it still wouldn't work. I yank the emergency chute and it came out, then flew away since it was torn. I start crying. I was actually going to die because my parachute wasn't working. I don't notice when my backpack is pulled off and another is put in its place. The cord is yanked and I suddenly stop falling as fast. My eyes open just a crack and I watched, horrified, as Masamune plummeted towards the ground.
I scream his name, try to rip off the parachute, and watch, horrified, as he heads straight towards open water. My hands grab the handles and steer the chute towards where I last saw him, tears spilling freely from my panicked eyes.

A scream rips my throat as I shoot up in bed, breathing heavily.
"Baby? What's wrong?" His groggy voice reaches my eyes and I instantly crash into his chest," let's not go skydiving tomorrow..."
"But we promised Gingka we'd go with him."
"I don't care. We're not going."
"Nightmare?"
I nod and let his warmth encompass my shaking form. Everything will be okay as long as we're together.
And don't go skydiving.
