New powers (Part 12)

(Y/N) POV:

Pearl appears out of her room and comes up to me and Steven. "Steven, there's a very important mission we need you to attend," Pearl said while going to get Amethyst and Garnet. "Can I come too?" I asked Steven. "It might be too dangerous, Pearl said it was 'very' important." Steven explained.

"But I want to help you! And I also want to see you," I said while mumbling that last part. "I don't want you to get hurt!" Steven said concerned. "Don't worry I'll have you to protect me!" I said while pulling Steven into a hug. "Come on, let's go Steven," Garnet said while walking into the room with Pearl and Amethyst.

"Can (Y/N) come on this mission?" Steven asked. "No." A straightforward answer came out of Garnet. "I guess I'll see you when we're done?" Steven said while walking onto the warp pad with the others. "Yeah... I guess," I replied while walking up into my room.

Everything's fine, he usually goes on missions so why would this be a problem? I guess... I just feel useless being here for no purpose. All the Gems and Steven always are helping and saving the world when I don't even know what my powers are. All I know is my Gem can turn different colours, how stupid is that. I'm surprised Steven even likes me.

I kept rambling on with my thoughts until I decided to try to discover my powers. I walked outside of the house and tried to do something... anything. But nothing happened. I tried to use telekinesis, I even tried to fly. Nothing was working, all of these attempts were just getting myself hurt.

I tried walking on water but ended up tripping on a rock making me fall backwards. I landed on 'something' but, I knew it wasn't the ground like I thought it'd be. "(Y/N)?" A voice said as I opened my eyes to see that Steven was holding me. "How did I get here?" I asked looking at my surroundings then looking to see the Gems surprised, well except for Garnet.

"This must mean... I can teleport!" I squealed excitedly. "You should go back, this mission is dangerous," Pearl said. "(Y/N) should be allowed to come with us, she has powers!" Amethyst yelled clearly annoyed. "Next time she can come," Garnet said. "I don't know how to get back..." I said while Steven put me down. "Steven you can go back with her to the warp pad," Garnet said.

"Won't you need me?" Steven asked. "Eh, we can handle this," Garnet said bluntly. Steven and I headed back to the warp pad. "So how did you learn to teleport?" Steven asked starting up a conversation. I explained what happened and that I didn't know how to do it again. "I could help you practice," Steven offered.

He put out his arms, "I'll catch you if you don't teleport," Steven said. "Think of where you'd want to go, maybe that'll work," Steven suggested. "Okay, I'll try," I said while I stood in front of Steven. I fell back as I thought of the beach and I tried to keep my focus. I opened my eyes and seen that Steven caught me.

"Hmm well that didn't work," I said frowning. "Let's just try again, remember to focus," Steven encouraged. Steven pushed me up and I tried again. This time I opened my eyes to see the beach. I sat there and waited for Steven to come. I felt someone grab around me, I looked back to see Steven hugging me from behind.

We both laid down on the sand and watched the stars. We both laughed while we tried to make out things from the stars. "Days fly by fast nowadays," I said. "Yeah... I can still remember the first day we met like it was yesterday," Steven said turning his head to look at mine.

"It's getting quite cold," I said while I shivered. Steven took off his jacket and put it around my arms. "Thank you," I thanked Steven. We stayed outside for half an hour later then decided to head inside. We both started getting ready to go to sleep.

I had a shower and only put on a house coat since I was going to sleep in my own room. I got under the covers then fell asleep. I woke up to hearing my door opening. "Steven?" I called out. "Sorry if I woke you up... would I be okay if I slept with you tonight... I had a nightmare." Steven explained. "It's rare for you to be having a nightmare, huh?" I said well I gestured him to come over.

Steven layed down and got comfortable. He started moving in closer and ended up hugging me in the inside of the house coat when I stopped him. "Umm, I'm not really wearing clothes," I said nervously. His face began to blush deep red. "Ummm I have to go to the washroom... you should put on some clothes!" Steven said while quickly running out of the room, leaving me no time to reply.
