Chapter 15: Danson's Secret

[Hebe's House, Living Room]

(Hebe walks down the stairs and then goes into the living room. Her parents are looking at the marriage magazines again. She sees it and sighs sadly. Her parents hears her and looks up.)

Mr. Tian: Is something wrong Hebe?

Mrs. Tian: Why do you look so sad? Is it because Calvin doesn't want to marry you?

Hebe: (shocked) What?! He doesn't want to marry me?! (mad, talks to herself) Fine! If he doesn't want to marry me then I won't marry him either! *Hmph* Who would want to marry that idiot!

(Hebe's parents looks at her in surprise and then at each other, and back at Hebe. Hebe sees them looking at her and smiles weakly. Hebe goes and sits down.)

Mrs. Tian: Are you...mad?

Hebe: Wh...who would be?

Mr. Tian: Hebe.

Hebe: I...I'm not.

(Hebe turns away and then after a while turns back to her parents.)

Hebe: What did he say actually? Tell me his exact words.

(Hebe's parents looks at each other from the corner of their eyes and tries not to laugh.)

Mrs. Tian: His actual words were....

Mr. Tian: (mimicking Calvin) I...I can't marry Hebe. I'm in love with another girl. I'm sorry. I'm a disgrace as your son.

(Hebe angrily stands up and storms out of the room. After she leaves, her parents burst out laughing.)

Mrs. Tian: Our Hebe's in love!

Mr. Tian: I'm so happy. She'll be happy too if she heard the part I left out.

Mrs. Tian: (worried) Do you think she'll get mad at us for not telling her that?

Mr. Tian: Of course not. (mimicking Calvin again) I...I can't marry Hebe. I'm in love with another girl. She goes to school with me and her name is Hebe. I'm sorry. I'm a disgrace as your son.

(Mr. and Mrs. Tian looks at each other and starts laughing again.)

[Classroom]

(Hebe and Selina are sitting in the back of the class. Selina is looking through a magazine while Hebe is reading. Selina is sitting at the desk next to the window and Hebe is sitting next to her. Danson comes and sits next to Hebe. He taps her shoulder and Hebe looks up.)

Hebe: Hi Danson!

Danson: Are you and Calvin going out?

Hebe: (surprised) What?! N...n...no!

Danson: (smiles) Really? That's great! I mean ok.

Hebe: Wh...who did you hear that from?

Danson: Everyone is saying that you guys were a couple. That Calvin claimed you. (hopeful) You don't like him right?

Hebe: Well....

Mrs. Tian: Why do you look so sad? Is it because Calvin doesn't want to marry you?

(Hebe turns away and then after a while turns back to her parents.)
