It felt like a dream. Had to be, I knew I'd fallen asleep, but I kept coming in and out of consciousness. All I saw were flashes of light, and the faint outlines of a body, flitting across the room. Then spurts of blood shooting out of the necks and guts of the men trying to rape me. They all went down one by one. This spirit of sorts that was killing them all, moved so fast I couldn't even see him. All I could hear were the blood curdling screams as each man went down. Worst of all was the queens shrieks, ripped my ears raw like glass against a chalkboard. I shut my eyes purposefully then but could not block out the sounds. To stop the shrieks, she was taken out too, clobbered over the back of the head. And then all was silent. I looked up to see the image of my rescuer. And it was indeed...Lord Andrew.
But why was he this faded glow of light, and most shocking of all, out of his back were the most striking wings. Not white or black but grey speckled. Wings? Angel? There was no way the purest blood family of the Blackmoons had angel blood in their veins.
"Lord Andrew...?" I murmured. He sheathed his sword and crawled over me, wiping the strands of hair away from my face.
"Darling...are you okay?" he asked. Tears in his eyes, I knew he found it hard to look at what had become of me but he didn't even blink.
"I'm going to get you out of here, I swear," he said.
I could only cry in pure relief that someone out of here knew I was struggling, and was trying to help me. I felt so alone in this this whole time. My whole body filled with shuddering ugly cries. And he buried his head next to mine and held me. I was surprised I could even feel him in spirit form. But his body felt warm.
"Everything's going to be okay, I promise you," he said quietly to me.
"I never wanted to marry him! I don't know how this happened!" I screamed all in one breath.
He pulled away to look at me, his look serious as ever.
"I know," he said. His look said it all, that he knew all too well, that he was aware of everything. I didn't even have to say much else in my defense.
"How did this even happen? Why am I here?" I asked.
"They stole you from us, but we're going to get you back. In a matter of days. Hang tight, we're coming for you," Andrew said.
I could see the glory of his massive wings hanging over me on the bed. And it was as if he just remembered they were there as he looked back to see what I was looking at.
"How are you here....doing this?" I asked.
He looked flustered, even in spirit form, "Don't be angry with me...I'm sorry...I meant to tell you...I just..."
I knew what the answer was, without him having to spill it out, he was an angel or at least part. And Angels were hated on this side of the pond. They once had rule over this whole world. But we chased them out. Kept our land pure blooded, human only. They still ran a very small kingdom north of here and were unwelcome beyond it.
"Lord BlackMoon fucked an angel...?" I couldn't believe it. He was the most anti-angel or any other creature that existed.
"No, no, not at all. My father found me, as an orphan, and took me in because him and his wife couldn't have a child. It wasn't til I got older that they realized I was part angel. So they figured it was fine as long as no one knew. I'm sorry, I never told you. I thought that maybe you would reject me if you found out. And I couldn't lose you. I mean I was going to tell you one day, before we married...but I never found the words. You hate me don't you?" he said.
"What? No? I don't care. I'm surprised is all..." I started. He was talking to a girl who had a half orc as a champion and a personal faery I gave no shits about magical creatures. I wasn't prejudiced against them at all. He looked relieved and his face filled with the purest look of love I'd ever seen in his eyes.
"I love you so much," he told me, pulling me into his arms again, "I'm going to get you out of here, I swear until my last dying breath, I will fight for you."
Then he blinked away.
"Wait! Andrew! Don't leave me here!" I screamed. I could tell my scream had woken some others up, could hear the thundering of footsteps in the halls.
Andrew quickly came back, "Don't worry, you won't be alone," he said, opening his hand to reveal, Tuck, my personal faery. He blinked away and Tuck flew towards me. I caught him in my own hands and then closed my eyes and pretended to be asleep as the knights came in to find what had become of my captors.
