Lucy and Elizabeth walk into the quaint cafe. It was cozy and warm. It had a counter on the right as soon as you walk in and small little tables situated in a grid to the left. This was the friends' favorite cafe because they always made the perfect cakes and coffee.
"Hey, Lucy, Elizabeth!" Amy greeted them, "Your usual, I'm guessing?"
"Of course!" Lucy chirped, while Elizabeth is busy playing a mobile game on her phone. They turn around and sit in their usual spots, by the window in the corner.
"You know, you are the one who asked me here and you're not even looking at me."
Elizabeth looked up from her phone. "Huh? Oh, yeah, I wanted to spend time with you again," she says as she places her phone in her jacket pocket. "So! How's it been, anything happen since I've gone getting my education?"
"Nothing really, other than doing my job so I could pay the rent, but.."
"It's been fun over there. Not as fun since you've graduated, but fun nonetheless." Elizabeth moves in and whispers, "Did you hear that Maxine got a new boyfriend?"
"Really? Didn't she break up with Jason last week?"
"I know, right?"
Meanwhile, as the girls are gossiping about what's happening with Elizabeth, two friends, a fairy and a human are talking at a small table.
"So, what'cha want to talk about?" Max asks, annoyance laced in his words. He was pale, but not that pale, with freckles. His black hair a little messy and his blood-red eyes staring daggers. He was around 6 '4 and you could tell he went to the gym. Most women say he's attractive, but he isn't in a relationship, saying something about 'girls being fake'. He wore a black, skin-tight elastic shirt that is sleeveless and a little see through. He had a red, plaid shirt tied at his waist, jeans, and black boots. His whole left arm was covered with a black arm piece while his other was visible and had a black tattoo. His nails were also painted black. He had hoop earrings and some other ear piercings.
"You owe me," Jo said blanckly. She was tiny, extremely tiny. Around the size of a young child. It was her heritage's fault. Fairies were naturally short. Her hair was dyed bright green and half-shaved. Her skin was tan and had gold eyes. Her wings were a bright green, illuminating a little. She had a pastel green crop-top and high-waisted jean shorts on. She also had black boots and ear piercings like Max, but instead of hoop earrings she had skull earrings.
"What do you mean, I don't owe you," Max says, chuckling a little.
"Remember that bet we made! When I bet you couldn't make it one day without calling me one rude name, and I was right. Fifty bucks, now." She held out her hand.
"Well, I'm sorry, you little goblin, but I don't have my wallet on me. Thought you were going to pay."
Jo physically scoffed, clearly as annoyed as Max, which was rare, Max was always annoyed, and no one topped him on the annoyed scale.
"What do you need the money for anyway? You already have enough saved in your account, if you don't then just get a job."
Jo grumbled. "I spent it all for this party one of our old college friends had thrown and you know no one will hire me for my hair and piercings."
"Typical," Max sighed. He got up. "I'll have the money tomorrow."
"Wait, really!"
"Yes, but you need to find a job that will hire you soon because I won't be giving you every time you ask." He turned around to leave.
"Of course, Maxie! Have I ever let you down?"
"Don't ever call me that again, and yes, yes you have."
