Darkness. It's dark here, but he's used to it. The demon realm wasn't a particularly bright place. It's hot, yet it's cold, surrounded in purple flames.

He sat on his bed, messing with his own small sparks of magic. He wanted to get out of there. He knew what his father had started was wrong. He stood up. He left the dark purply room. He knew there was no way he could make it past his father, but he was out on.....

business...

There was one way to get out of the demon realm, but it required a lot of magic power and getting past the heavily guarded doors.

He walked through the mundane corridors, lit with torches layed out evenly across the walls. A left. Then a right. And then another left. He knew the castle like the back of his hand, having being raised in it.

He reach a corner and stopped. He peaked around it to see two huge doors. There were designs all across it. He saw two of his father's strongest guards. He knew he wasn't strong enough to defeat them himself. Heck! He didn't even know why he came here! He didn't have enough magic power to maintain the portal long enough for him to pass through. He mentally cursed to himself, then turned around to go back to his room.

Once there, he sat down on the not-so-comfortable bed. He thought for a second. He began to become anxious that he wouldn't be able to ever go at all. His peak magic power level would often only happen if he was in a distressed state and even that wasn't enough magic power to do both things.

Then, an idea came.

Surely, the Grand Library would have a book on something that could boost his magic power, only if for a little bit. Enough for him to defeat the two guards and open the portal.

It was his only idea so he decided to go searching in the huge storage of information that is the Grand Library.

Meanwhile, Lucy and Elizabeth are exiting the store, having gotten all of the groceries that they needed.

More like that Lucy needed.

They were hanging out after they went to the café that morning and Lucy somehow convinced Elizabeth to go with her on her shopping trip. Elle bought a few snacks for herself, but that was it.

"That guy that bumped into us, he was nice right?" the werewolf asks.

"He seamed agitated to me," Elle replied.

"Meh. Could of just been a bad day."

"I guess."

"So, have you found anyone you're interested in?"

"Are you asking me if I'm single?"

"Just asking..."

"Have you found a lucky lady that you'd like to pursue?"

"That doesn't answer my question."

"And that doesn't answer mine."

"Okay, fine! I may have a small crush on someone."

"Oooh. Give the deets."

"Don't ever say 'deets' again, and no, can't tell you."

"Aww, Luce, you know how I feel about gossip."

"Can you please just let this one go?"

Elizabeth looked towards her best friend. She looked uncomfortable. Although she was looking away, Elle could tell that much, so she let it go as she asked by switching the subject.

"How's it going with the café?"

Lucy thought for a second. She works at a different café then the one they went to this morning. She answered, "Well, I'm getting an income and I'm happy with what I'm doing, so pretty good!"

Elizabeth looked away and smiled at her friend's happiness. It always made her heart flutter when she saw her smile.

They both stuffed the car with the groceries and piled into the car.

"Alright, let's go Elle! You've checked your phone for the millionth time today, just drive!"

"Okay, okay! I'll go."

They started driving in a comfortable silence. Well, they were silent. The radio was blasting.

"I love this song!" Lucy shouted over the music.

"Me too! Guess that's what makes us so compatible!"

Lucy blushed a little.

'Yeah, we really are compatible.'

She was pulled out of her thoughts when they pulled over.

"You gonna go or what?"

"Oh! Yeah of course! Bye Elle!" Lucy waved, "Love ya!"

'In more ways than one.'

"Love you too, bye."

Elle pulled away and Lucy is left with her thoughts.

'I could never be with her. She's my best friend.'

She shook her head and smacked her face.

'Snap out of it, Luce! You told yourself you wouldn't think like that!'

And with that, she turned and walked into her apartment.
