The next few days flew by, and before I knew it, Friday had come; the day of the public announcement of the engagement of the Crown Prince and the daughter of a well-known Lord. Elizabeth and Adelaide had arrived back from Newcastle late the previous afternoon, and everyone had cleared their schedule for Friday morning.

Usually when the Royals had an announcement, it was announced via a royal press release. However, as this was the largest announcement since the death of Henry's father, the late King, it was decided that the information would be released through a press conference. The royals would not be speaking, but a representative of the royal family would announce the news, while William, Henry, Elizabeth and I stood there and looked pretty.

The press conference itself was rather just an event to announce the news, and no questions would be accepted or answered. It was schedule to take place at 10am, in one of the smaller sitting rooms, where cameras would be set up- no press was allowed to palace grounds.

I stood in the corridor besides Adelaide, whilst flatting down my skirt to remove the creases. It was decided that I would wear something formal, yet not overly dressy, as this was still considered a public engagement. At 7am that morning, I was awoken by the Queen, who has rushed into my room, and told me to shower before the hair and make up stylist arrived at 8am.

After my hair and make up were complete, we decided on a peach blouse and a high waisted black skirt, that reached my knees. The sleeves of the blouse reached my elbows, and were bordered at the end by a pretty lace pattern. When William arrived to collect me at 9.40am, he looked at me and nodded, before turning around, as if assuming I would follow straight after.

"You look great," Adelaide complimented with a smile, adjusting her own navy skirt, which was worn with a silk white shirt.

Adelaide and my father would not be filmed like the rest of us, but would be stood in the room behind the cameras, watching as if they were sat at home in their living room, tuning into the news.

"Thank you," I smiled at her, "We are going to the restaurant after this, right?"

"Right," Another voice cut in, stepping next to me to join our little group.

I turned to see William who was attempting to adjust his tie, but failing miserably. Laughing, I stepped in front of him, pushed his fingers off of the tie, and began to re-tie it myself, careful not the pull too hard. William watched me as I tied it, but refused to meet my eyes: concentrating on my hands instead.

"Thanks," He whispered as I stepped back and admired my work, to which I responded with a nod.

Adelaide shook her head in amusement before turning to me, with a small grin, "Jamie agreed to meet us there. He said to be on time this time, William, whatever that is supposed to mean."

I smirked slightly before turning back to Adelaide, "Okay, that sounds good. This shouldn't take too long."

William and I, although we had not spoken an awful lot since that lunch with Jamie a few days before, had mutually agreed to put it behind us. We had decided that if the two of us were to be married to each other for the rest of our lives, we had to at least try and get along. Arguing over something which he labelled as 'petty' was not the way to go if we wanted to get along just fine.
