Btw,  lot of Frazel has been happening "off-screen" and Jasper is being slow (lol)

———

"Magic isn't real, Lou."

"Lou Ellen. And it is."

"Cecil's right, Lou Ellen," I say as the three of us walk out of our last class of the day. The halls are filled with people and we wrestle our way around them.

"No, you guys are wrong." Lou Ellen shakes her head in disbelief, like we're kindergarteners she's trying to explain a simple concept to.

Cecil scoffs. "Magic ain't real, Blackstone. Accept it."

"Maybe you, a small-minded Markowitz, doubt it but I know magic is completely, one hundred percent real."

"Hey! Don't attack only me. Will doesn't agree with you either."

I sigh. "You know, I'm going to step out of this conversation." The two of them ignore me and continue to argue.

Suddenly Cecil stops, making other people shove him out of their way. "We passed my locker!" Lou Ellen and I sigh and watch Cecil try to maneuver past everyone else.

"Move it," some-senior-whose-name-I've-forgotten grunts. Lou Ellen and I follow Cecil.

"I don't understand why we have to follow him. Both our lockers are on the other side," Lou Ellen says. I shrug. We lose sight of Cecil but we know where his locker is so that's where we go.

"Where is he?!" Lou Ellen turns to me, leaving her back to Cecil's locker. "Why in the world is he not here?! We came here for nothing!"

"You can shut up now Blackstone." Cecil appears out of nowhere. "I was in the washroom." Lou Ellen glares at him.

I ease them apart. "Did you get your stuff?" I ask. Cecil nods. "So let's go get our stuff." The crowd of people has thinned quite a bit, which is great. We start moving but pause.

"It's just that skinny dude beating another kid up," Cecil says. "Let's go."

"That's not what you do when someone's being fucking beat up." Lou Ellen punches Cecil in the arm.

"Language," I whisper. She ignores me.

"I'm not risking myself for a kid I don't even know," Cecil retorts.

While they argued, I move to get a closer look. Cecil's right. That skinny dude Octavian with these massive dudes beating up a kid. The kid looks familiar. Who has black hair, is skinny and pale, and wears all black? Oh—

I turn to Cecil and Lou Ellen. "It's Nico."

Lou Ellen peeks. "You're right." She turns to Cecil. "Even more reason to go. If we save Nico, he could fall in love with Will because Will was his saviour."

"I—" I start to say.

"Shush."

"Those dudes are massive though. We can't overpower them," Cecil says.

"Text your friends. Like that big dude Frank," Lou Ellen tells me.
