Chapter 18

Chan's POV

I'm so close. Jia's scent is getting stronger and stronger. Hopefully, I can catch her before she gets to JB. I have to get to her, I have to.

I'm running as fast as I can before I quickly stop. I think I can see Jia. She's about a football field away from me. I found her, I did it!

Suddenly, Jia turns to face me. She turns back and changes into her wolf before she begins to run. She's carrying something in her mouth. I think it's a knife. Why does she have a knife?

I start to run after her again, regaining the speed I had before. She's faster than I remember. I guess all the training she did with us paid off. It's a good thing I'm still quicker.

I move up right behind her and pounce, tackling her to the ground. I pin her down and toss the knife she has a couple of feet away. I look down at her and watch her change into her human form. "Chan, get off of me!" Jia does her best to push me away, but I won't let her.

I shift into my human form and keep her pinned. "Why did you leave? Why did you run away? And what were you planning on doing with that knife?" I jerk my head in the direction of the blade. "Were you going to kill JB?"

"Get off of me!" Jia fights back harder and harder. I can see tears building up her eyes.

"Not until you answer me!" She becomes still and begins to cry. She brings her hands to her face to cover it. I sit up onto my knees and pull her into my arms. I let her cry into my shoulder.

"I wasn't going to kill JB." Jia pauses before she finishes her statement. "I was going to kill myself in front of him." I pull her away from my body and cup her face in my hands.

"What do you mean you were going to kill yourself?" I stare into her tear-filled eyes. I use my thumb to wipe away a tear as it runs down her cheek.

"I knew that he would never stop until he made me his. I was going to end it all. I was going to show him that I will never be his."

"We could've protected you. We wouldn't have let JB take you."

"You don't know how strong JB's pack is. I didn't want any of you to get hurt because of me."

"What about JB's deal?" She moves away from me and cries a bit harder.

"Why would you care?" She mumbled, barely loud enough for me to hear.

"Why wouldn't I care?"

"Because you have Jihyo. You don't love me, and I don't know why I thought you did. I was foolish to think that." Jia keeps her head turned as she speaks.

I move closer to her and cup her face again, only this time, I lean in to kiss her. I can tell she's shocked, but I don't care. Her lips are so soft and perfect that I want to stay in this moment forever. She pushes me away and gives me a confused look. "Why did you do that? What about Jihyo?"

"Jihyo left. She doesn't really love me, and I don't love her." I reach down and grab Jia's hands. "I promised that I would protect you, but now I want to promise you a few more things. I promise to love you till the end of time, I promise to take care of you always, and I promise to make you the happiest you've ever been."

I let go of her right hand and grab a golden ring from my pocket. Jia's eyes widen when she sees me bring it out. "This was my grandma's ring. She gave it to me when I was thirteen, right before she died. She told me to give it to the one that I would spend the rest of my life with. I want that person to be you, Jia."

I take the ring and slide it onto her left ring finger. "Will you allow me to continue to protect and love you for the rest of eternity?"

Jia nods her head and pulls me into a hug. "I love you, Chan.

"I love you too."

"Jia!" Felix comes up from behind me and joins our hug. "I'm so glad you guys are okay." Both me and Jia laugh a little. "Now, let's go home."

A/N: This chapter was a bit shorter than I usually make them, but I put plenty of "action" in there. I also realize that it seems a bit rushed. I'm going to be honest, I've been struggling to write this story lately. Mostly because I did not follow my original storyline and so the past few chapters have not been planned. I'm thinking of doing a rewrite in the future. This story is sadly almost over, probably only two chapters left. Thanks for reading. Don't forget to vote and comment.
