Chan's POV
"Okay, I can do this. I'm going to ask out Jia. It's going to be sweet and romantic and perfect." I'm pacing my room again. I don't think I've ever been more nervous than I am right now.
"If you're going to do it, you should probably go soon." Changbin and Felix are lying on my bed, waiting for me to leave. "We set everything up yesterday, all you have to do is take her there."
My hands are shaking, my heart is pounding, and I'm sweating. If I wait any longer, I might have a heart attack. "Right. Okay. I'm going to go get Jia and then take her to the pond."
"You've got this, Chan!"
"Take care of my best friend for me!"
I walk out of my room and shut the door behind me. I walk down the hall and stop in front of Jia's bedroom. I look at myself up and down to make sure I look okay. I brush off my t-shirt and shorts and look back at the door.
Here goes nothing.
Jia's POV
I'm lying on my bed, staring at the ceiling, when suddenly, I hear three knocks on my door. "Jia, can I come in?" It's Chan. Why isn't he in bed?
"Yeah, the door's unlocked." Chan walks in and lays down beside me. I can feel my cheeks heating up. "Is everything okay?"
"I think we should go somewhere tonight if possible." He turns his head to look at me, and I do the same. Why does he have to be so handsome? I feel like my heart is going to hop out of my chest.
"Go where?"
"It's a surprise. Trust me, you'll like it. So, are you in?"
"Sure, why not?" We both sit up and walk to the door. "Is this okay to wear, or do I need to change?" I'm wearing a pair of black shorts and a baggy grey t-shirt with a black tank-top under it.
"No, that's fine; you look good." My face probably looks like a tomato right now. This guy really knows how to get my heart going.
"Come on, let's go." Chan grabs my hand and leads me outside. His hand is so soft, despite all of the hard training he's been doing. It's like my hand fits perfectly in his.
"So, what's the occasion?" I look up at him and see his small smile. "You know my curiosity is my biggest weakness." His smile gets bigger.
"But it's one of my favorite things about you." My heart is going to explode. "Anyways, I just wanted to show you something. It's one of my favorite places to go when I need to get away." He holds my hand a little tighter now. "If you end up liking it, I'll take you whenever you want."
I squeeze his hand back slightly. "Thank you for being there for me when I need it. I don't know where I would be if it wasn't for you and the boys." I move a bit closer to him, and he does the same.
Suddenly, he stops in front of a wall of bushes and branches. He starts to push them out of the way. He moves the last tree limb, then turns to me. "Here we are. Go on in; I'll be there in a second." I slowly walk past him and go to the clearing.
I can't believe what I'm seeing. It's the most beautiful place I've ever seen. Right in front of me in a crystal clear pond with the moonlight shining down on it. Over to the side is a huge willow tree covered in fairy lights.
Chan comes up behind me and wraps his arms around my waist. "What do you think? Does it beat your expectations?" He leans his head down and rests his chin on my shoulder. I place my hands on his and continue to stare out onto the pond.
"It's perfect." I can feel my eyes watering. I can't remember the last time I was this happy.
Chan turns his head a little to whisper in my ear. "It's not as perfect as you." My face starts to turn red again. This boy is going to be the death of me. He lets go of my waist and goes back to holding my hand. He turns and leads me to the willow.
We get through all of the branches to the center of the tree. There was a wooden bench resting against the truck. We both take a sit next to each other, still holding hands. "You know, I had some help setting this up. Felix, Jinyoung, Yugyeom, and Changbin seemed pretty determined to get it just right."
"Really? I'll have to thank them when we get back." It stays silent for a minute. But it wasn't an 'Awkward Silence' (I'm sorry, I had to), it was a sweet moment where we were too embarrassed to say anything. Both of our faces are red now. It's so cute how red his ears get.
"Do you want to swim? The water is clean and shouldn't be cold." Chan stands up and takes his shirt off. I can't help but stare a little. His body is so muscular. I knew he was strong, but now I know why. He smiles as he notices me staring. "Come on, let's go for a swim." Chan reaches for my hands and pulls me up off the bench.
"Um, there's a slight problem with that. I don't know how to swim." I look down at my feet, a bit ashamed of myself. "I never had anywhere to learn." I start to play with my fingers, too scared to look up at Chan.
"Well, maybe I can teach you." He grabs my hands again and lifts my head so that I'm looking at him. "It's never too late to learn." He let's go of my hands and walks over to the water. I turn to look at the tree and take my t-shirt off, leaving my tank-top on. I move over to where Chan is and hold onto his arm.
We go deep enough to where the water is almost to my shoulders. My grip on Chan's arm tightens. I pull him closer to me, just in case. He lets out a small laugh and looks down at me. " Two more steps, then we can go back if you want." I just nod my head.
I take one step with him, and the water gets deeper. On the second step, my foot slips off a rock. Chan moves quickly and catches me before my head can go underwater. He lifts me off my feet and wraps my legs around his waist. Our faces are so close to each other that it would be impossible for him not to see how red my cheeks are.
"I told you I wouldn't let anything happen to you." Chan starts to lean in closer to me. Without knowing it, I'm moving closer to him. I close my eyes, and...
A/N: CLIFFHANGER! Do you guys remember that one chapter where I said: "I think that was the hardest thing I have ever had to write." Well, this was the hardest thing I have ever had to write. I've never written romance before, so I struggled to come up with ideas. My friend said it was extremely cringy to read, so I apologize for that. If I ever have to write romance again, I promise it will be a lot better than this. Also, keep reading to find out what happens next!
