Will took a step back, confusion written all over his face. "Tessa, what's the matter?" he asked, concerned. He took a step toward her again, and she whimpered and inched along the wall.

Jem quietly walked over to Will and laid his hand on his parabatai's shoulder. "Will, how about I meet you in my room and we catch up then? Clary can show it to you," he whispered in Will's ear. Will nodded, his eyes never moving from Tessa's tear-streaked face. He finally stormed out of the room, and slowly, everyone filed out after him. "Sheesh," Jem heard Jace mumble.

Quietly, Jem knelt down beside Tessa and looked at her in her small ball. He remembered their wedding, and how Will and Jessamine had come back to see them. Except then, he was a ghost and not in the flesh. Jem wrapped his arms around Tessa and she melted into them.

"Tessa," he whispered into her hair. She squeaked as a reply and Jem continued. "Do you want to talk to him yet?" She shook her head and sniffled. "Do you want to stay with Magnus for the night?" Tessa nodded quietly and raised her head.

"I'll call him right now," Jem smiled as he stood up and offered a hand to her. Tessa took it and heaved herself up, taking a deep breath. She returned his smile and pulled out her phone, quickly dialing the Magnus' number and walking into the corner to talk with him quietly. "I'll go get your pajamas and toothbrush," Jem said, kissing her cheek. He quietly strolled out of the room and dashed down the hall.

Will paced back and forth inside of his parabatai's room. He had been told to wait here, and it had been what, an hour? He glanced at the clock that was sitting on the mantle. Oh, it's been a half hour, he thought. That must be wrong.

Suddenly, the door slowly creaked open to reveal a panting Jem. "Your clock is fast," Will said.

"It's right on time," Jem said patiently.

"No it's not."

"Yes it is."

"It's not."

"It IS," Jem laughed, ringing clear and crisp throughout the room. He motioned to the sitting table and the two boys sat down. " So, why are you here?" Jem asked.

"Well, I decided to go duck hunting and a black mallard hit me over the-"

"You know what I mean," Jem interrupted. His brown eyes looked back into his blue ones. Will had never seen him like this. Even when he had first met Jem, his dark hair had been streaked with silver. It felt... foreign.

"Jem, if I knew, I'd tell you. The last thing I remembered before coming to... wherever this is, is you and Tessa at my deathbed. I woke up, stumbling down a random street. Then I met that red-headed girl and the boy, and here I am," Will explained.

"We shouldn't tell the Clave about you. Nothing like this has ever happened before," Jem said quietly to himself.

Will shifted nervously. "Tessa, she really isn't, um..."

"Scared of you?" Jem finished. "No, she's just startled. It's not every day your late husband appears. She's going to go stay with Magnus for the day." Will nodded and looked away.

A doorbell rang far in the Institute. "That must be him. I should go get Tessa," Jem said, standing up. Will followed him out of the room and into the hallway.

Alec had been quietly reading his book when the doorbell rang. I'm not getting that. It's for somebody else, he thought. A few moments later, the boy with black hair and violet-blue eyes that were almost the same as his, just Alec's were lighter, dashed into the room. The boy stopped and looked at him curiously and said, "What's your name?"

"Uh... it's- it's Alec Lightwood," he stumbled.

The boy smiled to himself. "Ah. A Lightworm."

"Excuse me?" Alec snarled. He stood up and began to walk towards him when Jem dashed detween them and went up the elevator to open the door. After a moment, Magnus strolled in, wearing a sparkly t-shirt over baggy jeans. Alec saw Will stare at him in confusion and disgust.

Magnus looked at both of them for a moment. Then he put his head in his hands and moaned, "Not again."

"NOT AGAIN?!" Alec roared.
