"Oh no, not Henry, anyone but Henry," Will muttered. Knowing him, Will was pretty sure Henry had set off the fire and would most likely do it again.

Henry stood there, a wide smile across his face. "They're so much more efficient then our cars! And they go so smoothly! No bumps!" His hands waved wildly in the air, oil drops flying off of them.

Clary stepped forward and flushed at how short she was compared to Henry. "I'll create a Portal to get us out of here before the firefighters come," she said quickly, moving toward a wall with her stele.

"Wait, you can create Portals? Without a warlock's help?" Henry asked, his eyes wide. He followed her like a puppy, watching her every move.

"Um, yeah. I have extra Angel's blood, so I can do that. And create runes," she explained, her stele delicately drawing the runes.

"Fascinating. Well, I'm Henry Branwell. I helped create the Portal with Magnus Bane."

Clary finished and turned around to look at him. "Magnus helped invent the Portal?"

He nodded enthusiastically. "It was his magic that helped it work. I just did the math."

"And you're Henry Branwell? Like the one who created the Sensor?"

"Yes! I even wrote a book, though at the time, I couldn't walk."

"Huh?"

"And what's your name, young Shadowhunter?" Henry asked.

"Clary Fray Fairchild Morgenstern."

Henry's face lit up. "My wife was Consul Fairchild."

Clary's eyes widened. Jace grabbed her hand and pulled her after him through the Portal. Jem led Henry through after them, leaving Will and Tessa behind.

"Why would a madman bring Henry back?" Will muttered.

Tessa sighed. "Because he could scare Clary. First Jem, Jace and I, now Clary. He's slowly making each of us go crazy. And now Clary has to deal with a prodding Henry."

Will grabbed Tessa's hand and slowly led her to the portal. "We'll figure it out."

Magnus and Alec sat quietly in the hallway on the steps, Alec reading poetry, Magnus changing the witchlight's colors from turquoise to chartreuse to fuchsia and back again.

After a while, they heard the elevator dawning and they stood up. Clary walked out first, looking irritated. A familiar ginger followed, towering over her and bombarding her with questions. Magnus grinned. "Henry, my good man, how are you?"

His head jerked up at the sound of his name. "Magnus!" He ran over and shook Magnus' hand violently. "Oh, how glad am I to see you!"

"Walking again, I see."

"As healthy as ever."

Clary walked over to where they were standing. "Magnus, you never told me that you helped invent the Portal."

"He did what?" Alec said.

"Shadowhunters don't like to admit that they needed a warlock to make their invention come to life. Henry also introduced me to my excitement over glitter."

Alec looked at the tall man for the first time. "What have you done?"

"Beg your pardon?" Henry said.

Alec was spared answering by Maryse who had come to see what all of the commotion was about. She stopped in front of the group. "Not again," she said.

"Hello!" Henry said cheerfully.

Maryse nodded and turned toward Jace. "Show this man to a room. I shall deal with him later." Jace grabbed Henry and led him down the hall. Magnus saw Will, Tessa and Jem go off with Clary to do more research on Aldous Nix.

"And the plot thickens," Alec said, picking up his book and tucking it under his arm.

Magnus sighed. "Indeed."

Tessa cruised down the rows of books, looking for a new read. After they had searched the entire library, Tessa had decided to take Will and Jem on a shopping spree. Jem was in the music store looking for new sheet music, while Tessa and Will strolled up and down the rows of books.

"Hmm... 'Clockwork Princess'? Sounds strange," she said, looking at book spines. "I've never been into that steam-punk kind of genre. 'The Selection'? I've had enough of selecting. Hmm... Divergent?"

"How about 'Harry Potter'? Those look interesting. Tess, may I have some mundane money to purchase Harry Potter?" Will said, holding up a boxed set.

"Just get one, then we can come back."

"But-"

"No."

Will huffed. "Fine. Just one." He grabbed a paperback and walked up to the counter. Tessa grabbed a copy of 'Etiquette and Espionage' and followed Will. She felt a buzz in her pocket. She lifted out her phone and read the screen.

"Maryse says we're needed back at the Institute," Tessa said. "Come on, buy your book. We have to get Jem."
