Chapter 8

THOMAS POV:

I slept with Minho and Newt snuggling with me. It was perfect and I love them even more now. I had a weird dream. I woke up to a knock on the door. I bolted up and then relaxed when I realized it's just a dream. Minho groaned as he rubbed his eyes. "Who is up this early besides Daron and his soulmate" he grumbled. "Did we over sleep" asked Newt. I got up and opened the door. It was Ably. "Can you put some clothes on quick" asked Alby. "Sorry, I forgot about that" I said. I closed the door and put some clothes on. Minho and Newt put their clothes on two. We finished and Minho was now fixing his hair. I opened the door to see Alby. "Come with me" said Alby. I left and Minho and Newt went back to sleep. Alby and I started walking. I feel self conscious now. "It's peaceful isn't" said Alby. "The sex" I asked. "NO YOU SHANK" Alby yelled. He took a breath and calmed down. "I was talking about the glade" said Alby. "Oh right, ya it's kinda nice here I guess" I said nervously.

I can't believe I shucked up like that. How embarrassing. "Well I know it's hard to believe but it wasn't always this way. We lost a lot of boys to fear, panic, but we've come far since then" said Alby. We stopped walking by the wall. "We established order and made peace" said Alby. "Why are you telling me this" I asked. "Because you're not like the others. You're curious. But you're one of us now, and you need to know what that means" said Alby handing me a knife. He pointed to the wall. I turned and saw names carved in to the wall. I walked closer. Bark had his name up here. It said Bark the puppy. He started howling in the background while Daron's Soulmate tried to sketch him and Daron. I'm going to have to get use to that every morning. I noticed some names were crossed off. "What happened to them" I asked pointing at the wall. "Like I said Thomas, dark days" said Alby. I picked a spot and started carving my name. I finished and then later had breakfast. I sat and ate with Newt, Chuck, and Minho. We heard a cough. "Bark stop eating too fast" said Daron.

Bark threw up in his bowl and then ate it. It was disgusting. I also noticed that Daron's Soulmate was eating the same food as us it just looked moldy and raw. "He has a stomach issue greenie" Minho whispered. "Bark is probably excited for Mr. Carrot" said Chuck. "How long have you had Bark" I asked. "WCKD sent him up a few months ago as a new born puppy. We had to bottle feed that shuck face" said Minho. "He was bloody adorable though. Every month now WCKD sends up something called Bark Box. So we assumed his name is Bark" said Newt. We continued with breakfast. Newt and I followed Minho and the runners to the maze. "So how would I become a runner" I asked. "You have a long way to go Thomas. If you want I'll talk to Alby later" said Minho. We made it to the doors. "Now both of you be ready for tonight" said Minho. We all three hugged each other and Minho grabbed our butts. He kissed us both and ran into the maze with the others. "Come on Tommy, we have our own job" said Newt. He took me to the farm and had me start working. I started planting and then went to digging a hole. I tried to think of ways to help find a way out. There must be more then the maze. "Has anyone tried climbing to the top" I asked.
