Have you ever told somebody something that wasn't yours to tell?
You can hear your conscience speak up, "don't say it, this person trusted you to not say it!"
But you try to fit in, you try to be a part of the conversation. You don't think this little piece of information with spiral into a huge mess. But it does.
And in the moment you can feel the snowball pick up speed. You're trying desperately to push it back up the mountain; to take back what you shouldn't have said or done. But it's too late. An avalanche is created in the wake of it.
Because you said one thing - one lowsy thing, and you lose everything you built. Those friendships are gone. They're not what they once were, and you can feel it.
Watching the avalanche come is horrifying, gut-wrenching, and all you can do is run and hope the disaster doesn't catch you. But it does. It grabs hold and doesn't let you go. Hundred pounds of snow falling on top of you and all you can do is try to push your way out to breathe.
It isn't until all that snow settles that you realize the wreckage isn't as bad as you thought it would be. The sigh of relief comes, but you still feel the weight of the trauma you experienced. It'll always be there, itll always remind you that one mistep coiluld lead to disaster.
