~~~(All About That Bass by Postmodern Jukebox)~~~
Alice digs into the bowl of grapes in the center of the table on the back patio of the Miller residence. The Beverly Hills home isn't as big as Alice's but she doesn't mind too much. Xavier lives here with his adoptive parents and his step sister JC, who's a freshman just like the rest of them. Xavier decided to invite the dance team over for a breakfast before rehearsal today and Alice was on board. She's trying her best to get over this crush she has on him but it's a lot harder than she thought it would be. Even though he likes someone else, that doesn't stop him from being hot.
"This looks great, thanks Xavier." Harrow tells him from the head of the table, her cheeks looking a little bigger for some reason.
"No problem." Xavier replies from the other end, a few of the dance team members dipping into the in-ground swimming pool. The morning sun is high in the sky but is being blocked by the umbrella placed in the middle of the table.
"Yeah, thanks Xavier." Xavier's sister JC comes out of the house with her boyfriend behind her. JC's long blonde hair stops at her boobs and she's wearing a denim dress with a brown belt around her stomach. JC's boyfriend looks like he just walked out of a Sexiest Man Alive magazine. Perfectly toned arms, a tattoo sticking out from under the sleeve of his t-shirt, light brown hair that is swooped up to the side. He has both ears pierced with black studs and his lips are almost TOO kissable.
"I didn't know you would be joining us." Xavier looks at his sister and the boyfriend, Landon Brightonstein.
"We're not, we're going for a swim." Landon responds, pulling his light blue shirt over his head to show off his chiseled, hairless chest.
Using all the power in her, Alice peels her eyes away from Landon's chest, noticing Xavier watching him with interest. His eyes lighten up and his lips part. Xavier rubs his lips together as he watches Landon run for the pool, diving in. Alice raises her eyebrows as she watches. Could Landon be the guy Xavier was talking about the other day when she tried putting the moves on him? Is he the one he's crushing on? Alice forces a laugh. "Oh my god, Xavier you're so funny."
"I didn't say anything." Xavier blinks at Alice.
Alice brushes the back of her hand up against Xavier's arm. "You just make me the happiest person."
"What are you doing?" Xavier hisses at her, his face getting red with embarrassment.
"Landon is the one you like, isn't he?" Alice asks in a low voice. Xavier doesn't say anything. "Well let's make him jealous." Alice scoots her chair closer, laughing again and hoping Landon and everyone else gets a good look.Anna, Bethany, Eli, Meg, and Josh all sit around the breakfast table in Mr. Adams' kitchen. Anna stretches her leg out under the table, rubbing it against Meg's leg with a smirk. Meg glances up from the muffin on her plate and blushes, their siblings in a random conversation about WWE fighting. The families try to have breakfasts like these as often as possible, even though Natalie is back in Chicago. Mr. Adams still invites Josh and Meg over for breakfast and claims that his house is theirs as well.
"Will you be coming to the talent show tomorrow night?" Anna asks Meg in a hushed voice so she doesn't interrupt Bethany and Eli talking to Josh.
"Depends." Meg shrugs. "Is there something or someone else that can entertain me?"
"I'm actually in it." Anna pipes up. She signed up for the show last minute, knowing that if she didn't, she'd definitely regret it. It's her senior year too. Who knows when the next time will be when she joins a talent contest?
"Then of course I'll be there." Meg confirms.
"Are you guys talking about the talent show?" Mr. Adams comes walking into the kitchen. Anna nods her head, hoping her dad didn't catch up on her and Meg flirting. "Great, there's someone I can hook you up with to go."
"What?" Meg glances at Anna and then at Mr. Adams in confusion. "Who?"
"His name is Jordan." Mr. Adams explains with an excited smile on his face. "He lives right next door."
"Jordan Smith?" Anna raises her upper lip in disgust. Jordan's parents are basically billionaires. They probably don't even have to pay a plumbing bill since they all probably shit out money. Jordan is a junior at Seaview High School, total ladies man and total slime ball. "No, dad."
"Jordan is a nice guy." Mr. Adams argues before looking at Meg. "Plus it'll get Meg over here some new friends."
"Jordan doesn't want to be friends with girls." Eli speaks up, his mouth full of strawberries. "He just wants to get in their pants."
"I don't think we're talking about the same Jordan." Mr. Adams shoots his son a look, once again focusing his attention on Meg. "So? What do you say?"
Meg looks at Anna, not really sure what to say. Anna stays still, resisting the urge to shake her head so that she won't have to be tortured with the idea of Meg sitting with another guy in the audience. Meg is bi. It's basically double the competition. Meg clears her throat after a minute. "Sure, I guess."
